Mystery Ranch Bargains “Anybody who is interested in the mystery ranch packs (by Dana Gleason who founded Dana design) should check out: Wilderness Exchange They have great prices on the 2000 packs. At 99 dollars, The Trance looks like a steal, but it isn't. It is a good deal though. In 2001, the trance comes with its own frame. The 2000 Trance doesn't. As Don from Wilderness outfitters explained to me: "The Trance we have is the 2000 model (3000c.i. weight- 28oz..)which requires the additional Wrap frame. We have the frame on closeout for $99.00 and the packbag is on closeout for $99.95. - the frame is 2lb. 5 oz. in medium." I'm tempted. If you want the modular system, "The Works," which is being raved about in lots of places (e.g. recent Bacpacker Review). These numbers put the 2000 Trance at 4 lb. 1 oz., one ounce more than the 2001 but with the benefits of being incorporated into the modular system. I was ready to go to the Auspex (MountainSmith) or the Osprey Aethyr. But this is tempting. Hmmm wonder if they have the frame in large???” 5:53:03 PM 10/03/01 RE: Mystery Ranch Bargains “4 pounds for 3000 ci?!?!?!?” 5:54:44 PM 10/03/01 RE: Mystery Ranch Bargains “The one I saw was not the modular system - it had it's own frame.” 6:14:05 PM 10/03/01 RE: Mystery Ranch Bargains “Ped - Did you see any deals on the Deep Trance. My wife wants to know what I want for Christmas. Woo-hoo!” 6:37:06 PM 10/03/01 RE: Mystery Ranch Bargains “Violin: The one you saw was clearly a 2001 model. Yeah Rad, 4 pounds for 3,000 ain't great... although its a reall 3k not an exagerrated 3k... and it is built to carry a lot more weight than most 3k's.” 9:31:07 AM 10/04/01 RE: Mystery Ranch Bargains “Oh yeah I don't see any deep trance bargains... That would be even more tempting,” 9:33:25 AM 10/04/01
