Here you go, Tom:

Tarp Link

I checked out the link, but am confused. Is this tarp coated with urethane or silicon? They seem a little on the heavy side.

HTML help
To make a link that opens in it's own window (a nice touch), simply copy and paste this:

<a href="INSERT URL"target="_blank">INSERT LINK NAME</a>

In place of INSERT URL, put in the URL of the website (copy and paste from your browser's address bar).
Don't forget the http:// part or it will be assumed to be on the www.thebackpacker.com server.

In place of INSERT LINK NAME, choose a name for the link.

BobK-
Beats the sh!t outa me.
A little heavy but lighter than a tent..... but looks like a nice unit.
I have a 10 X 10 Campmor tarp that is 2# and cost $40.
I suppose I got my money's worth but I like the looks of this other thing.

RE: TARPS
I looked a little closer at the website, and it does look like the tarps are urethane coated, which is a heavier coating than silicon. These tarps are definitely a step up from the campmoor tarps. I have one of those as well, but I use it more for a dining type cover to extend the protected area of my campsite if it rains.

You should also check out these links to silicon coated tarps. These are really light.

Oware Tarps

ID Tarps

If you like a urethane coated tarp, check out the Oware site. Theirs look like very high quality for less money.

RE: TARPS
Hilleberg is supposed to come out with tarps for 2002. If they make it out of Kerlon 1500, they should be the strongest tarps yet.

I didn't hear anything about prices, but a well made sil tarp is expensive too.

RE: TARPS
I hope they're not really coated with silicon. cause that would mean they got sand all over them

Wow a 15 x 15 is 395 bucks

Biz, Where did you see the price of the Hilleberg tarp? I checked their website, but didn't see any tarps.

RE: TARPS
I have a homemade tarp that weighs a pound and a half and it cost me $59.00. It probably leaks too, but it never has rained during the few trips I have humped it.
