Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “I spent Saturday night locally in the Southern California Mountains. I planned on camping on the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio, but it got dark before I got up there. I made it about 8 miles up the trail. I guess I should have started earlier than 11:30 am to make it up the 9.1 miles with a full pack. Here are my pictures from the trip: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1395621&a=13846106&f=0” 3:43:47 PM 10/08/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness 8:11:39 PM 10/08/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “wingding0 - Nice pics. Thanks! The San Gorgonio Wilderness is my hangout. I've done that hike, but in three days, not two. I am sure you had to carry a lot of water. FYI. Here is another photo of the plane crash site. I took this picture in 1989.” 8:53:52 PM 10/08/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “Oops! Make that 1991 when I took the picture. They were still searching for Jared Nagrete--the lost boy they never found.” 8:55:43 PM 10/08/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “That lost boy sure is a mystery - poor thing. I met up with the one who got lost on the Vivian Creek Trail this summer. He was a mile or two from the summit on his way up when I was coming down. I was so surprised when he turned up missing, but glad when he showed up.” 11:13:50 PM 10/08/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “The guy this summer got lost not too far from where Jared was last tracked. I still can't believe he hiked out the way he did...for 4 days!! Did you see him when he got lost, or a different weekend?” 1:19:00 AM 10/09/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “WD, I need my trail fix. I'm thinking about a 2 or 3 day backpack in there. Hows the water, trail, and bug conditions?” 9:40:22 PM 10/09/01 RE: Overnight in the San Gorgonio Wilderness “Markar - Trail conditions are great. Bugs are light. Water is low on some trails and OK on others. The web site is: http://www.sgwa.org/ You can get updates on water and trail conditions also at: http://members.boardhost.com/sgva/ Right now the Vivian Creek trail is a good one because there is water and it is a beautiful trail. Trip Album.” 10:22:22 PM 10/09/01
