I love the Giants. Grew up following the Say Hey Kid. Liked Barry's dad, Bobby. The only team to have all three Alou brothers on the team at the same time. McCovey, Marichal...I could go on.
Now to the present.
I grew up listening to Harey Carey get drunk on Bud and Michelob and try to announce the Cardinals' games. Thank goodness for Frank Buck. So... I am going to root for the Cards, but I don't think this is their year.

“I want to know about the announcers! Were they the regular Yankee announcers? If so, okay, I can accept that. But, if not, I think that they displayed incredible bias! They took every possible opportunity to poo-poo the M's. When the M's were fouling off ball after ball, it was due to great Yankee pitching, but when the Yanks were fouling ball after ball, it was their incredible batting prowess. Anywho, sour grapes!

BTW, Joe Torre and Zimmerman(?) are total class acts! They are what baseball is about IMHO.”

“Hey, the first time the Royals beat the Yankees in the playoffs in the 80's, the announcers couldn't stop talking about how great the Yankees are, even as they were getting beat. No, those weren't regular Yankee announcers in this ALCS, television wanted another Atlanta/New York matchup.
Here's what I think. The Yankees are one of the worst aspects of baseball, today. If they win another series, they will only be hurting baseball. Why have many people stopped watching and going to games? Well, why would you go to the game when you know it's futile. The Yankees are going to add at least two players in the off-season and their contracts will be worth more than the entire Royal's payroll. Is that fair?
I say the NFL has it figured out, and that is why there is such good competition.
What the Yankees represent is anti-baseball.”
