I think I'll hit a local trail for a dayhike tomorrow or Sunday, now that it's cooled off (a little).  I haven't been on them in a over a month because of the heat.  The rain has been sparse, so hopefully the mountain bikers haven't enlarged their mud-holes very much.... They need to be introduced to the concept of Trail Maintenance.

Unfortunately so do hikers and backpackers,we all share responsibilty.

Mountain bikers take almost all the flak, and I don`t believe that`s fair being a mtbr myself.

I'm hitting the farmers market tomorrow morning, just briefly. I may try to sneak out there alone. ;)

I'm waiting for the weatherman's promise of a break in the heat wave to come through. Supposedly we have a "very good" chance of rain sunday afternoon/ evening. I want a tropical depression or 3 to park over this whole region, for 2 weeks. Boy do we need the rain.

The trail I'm talking about had ZERO erosion problems before the bikers started #&%!$ing it up.  Period.

They Need Education --- or Eradication.

who controls the management of the land Tilt? Not every trail is a good candidate for mtnbikes. I love to ride, but some places get too much run off or are just poorly postiioned for the abuse. Other area can handle it better.

The land manager should take that into account.

Horses create similar issues.

All that being said, ALL trail users should participate in the work to keep the resource enjoyable for everyone.

Around here - along the Front Range - the mtn bike community is HUGE - and I think that most (not all) of them do their part. Of course, the same people that ride, also hike, backpack, climb, fish..... and spend a lot of time outside.

I have plans of playing with my new hiking sticks at the Peaks of Otter :) and then maybe I'll go swim laps at the pool...and ...maybe I'll be adventerous and try out new backpacking recipies so I don't have to eat the same ole crap on the trail that I always eat.

I think I'm going to methodically search through every thread on TT and b|tch on every one about how they are categorized rather than simply email the admins and ask them to correct the category.

A friend emails me Colson's commentaries just about every day. I'm like, dude, I can subscribe!
