“Headin' out to the Smokies; Laurel's birthday party plans got screwed up, so we're heading west because she's been begging to go back to Laurel Falls, which she insists were named after her. I can't believe my baby girl is turning 6 tomorrow.”

“My weekend starts tomorrow---5 day kayaking trip! Woo-hoo!”

Probably going to just chill, spend some time with my niece and nephew, catch up on school work, watch football (especially the USC stompage of 'the' ohio state) while drinking Mackeson XXX, the whole time day dreaming about next summer's Glacier National Park Trip... Is life great or what?

Sunday, I have to pack and prepare for the move.”

“The beginning of the weekend is gonna be slow (bus ride north) but I get a 9 day wknd WOOHOO!! If the weather holds I'll get to parachute twice (one day one night) do some shooting and spend about 3 days doing day and night land navigation (and teaching some of the kids how too) and the bonus is I am going to get to do some hip pocket training on survival. The focus will be fire making and building snares. I am hoping we will actually catch something so I can do a lesson on field dressing and game prep. I actually get paid too, gotta love it.”

“Going to ride my bike to Myrtle Beach, check out a few scenes and then eat some seafood.”

“I have no idea yet. Probably hike in the dunes, get the shed cleaned out to house the critters for the winter (chickens and rabbits), get some hay stocked up, cook down pumpkins, apples, etc. Pick the remaining green tomatoes that weren't ruined by the flood and put the veggie garden to bed.”

“Leading a trip of the northern end of the West Rim Trail. It is a hangers trip but ground dwellers will be gracefully received and indoctrinated to the air.

We'll be meeting at Bradley Wales on Friday evening. Heading north on Saturday probably to the Horse run area. Then moving on north on Sunday.”

“Due to some illnesses we had to postpone the Boy Scout trip, so I am yaking my woungest son out to SNP..

Just doing a Sat-Sunday overnighter, ending up Saturday at Hawksbill Summit spending the night at Rock Spring Hut....

If anyone wants to you us let me know... I'm not sure about the Yuengling Situation at Big Meadows, but I'm sure I can dig up something...

“well, my plans got pooped on...we were supposed to go to a local amusement park for their "haunted amusement park" event but the couple we were going with got sick...i was really looking forward to riding roller coasters in the dark...instead we're going to the chicago area for a ghost tour”

“Hell, all the leaves are changing here in ATL. I swear i sat in a conference room for 3 hours yesterday and saw one change from green, light green, then BAMMMM orange and red.

All the oaks in our business park are 3-4 days from peak.

Thank god i picked this weekend to head into the smokies. I'm sure i'll be cussing the hell out of the "road leafers"”

“Had a blast with my youngest son 'half pint' this weekend..

Did some day hikes around SNP.. It was packed.. Too packed.. Tons of people hiking their young kids down the trails without water, not realizing that eventually you would have to climb back UP...

We had been planning on hiking a little more before getting to a shelter, but all of the campsites were booked so I figured the huts would start to fill up as well.

The leaves that have changed are already starting to fall, and there are still green leaves on some of the trees... I don't think that fall is really going to be good this year..

we made it to the Rock Spring Hut mid afternoon, and after doing lunch we played some cards before half pint worked on a 'book' that he is writing for English..

Eventually more people started showing up including Crazy Horse a SOBO.. Half Pint kept the fire going and we all had a great time... All totalled, probably abouit 13-15 around the hut..

Halfpint had a blast, and wants to go back out there.. I am hoping to get back out there Nov 1.. Will probably stay at the Gravel Springs Hut that trip...

“I went camping on the Pacific Ocean in WA. We got caught up in Octoberfest there along with friends, so we didn't hike, but did a nice beach walk the next day. The weather was perfect, a bit cool, but sunny. Our campfire was about 1,000 degrees, which is nice on a night that dips below 40 degrees. It was a beach fire so it was big!”
