if he keeps drinking like a fish and smoking like a chimney he'll eventually move himself... but it won't be soon enough for me.

Man oh man....to quote Judge Smails..."Don't you have homes????""

Been running like crazy last two weekends. last week was just go, go, go then on Wednesday the Boss sent me home to rest. Thursday I chucked a pack, some food and hit the road. A friend and I drove up to Clayton Ga for the night, then got up and just bummed around the mountains of NC.

Stopped to do some whitewater rafting and it was my friend's first time. LOL> Had a T total blast.

Probably gonna hang around the Farm this weekend and do some work. Hope you guys are doing fine.

Well I got most of the place mowed before the rain yesterday. Will put down critter spray, then my friend will probably drop by and I think a Kayak run up one of the creeks is in order.

Depends on elevation change. I'm not in top shape, so I'm kinda slow. It would also depend on if I had a big decent that would kill my knees.

Nemster, that section isn't too bad.. besides you should be able to go pretty light.. You will be going through the pinnacle picnic area (you can get water there) as well as big meadows.. This will also provide you with ample oportunities to yogi free food from campers.... Remember, act real niave..... The warm weather may provide you with an opportuniy to yogi a sleeping bag.. or at least half of one...

When you get to Big Meadows, if you are not a purist, detour on the blue blazed Lewis Falls Trail.. It goes to a a nice falls, after the falls continue south as it hooks back up to the AT..

The AT loops around Big Meadows Campground, and unfortunately the store is in the front so you have to detour a little.. But the $.95 Yuengling is worth it..

I would join you but I will be in Harper's Ferry...

Have a blast...

Nemster same here. I am in shape but with the gear I tend to do maybe 10 or so a day.

Well I gotta clean too but my friend will drop by to help then we get a start on the lake.

Gonna go with her and the kids Sunday to their church. Should be a hoot.

My obsticle right now is a ride to Panorama to start. Trying to decide whether to bother with a tent or chance having room in the shelters.

I haven't refined any yogi skills. How do you yogi half a sleeping bag?
nemster
8:44:13 AM
5/07/09

By yogying a whole sleeping bag and then offering to share it with her....

If you're having problems with a shuttle, head further south towards 33.. there are some awesome loop hikes utilizing the AT...

Yes it is.. It has a fire place inside it.. It is NOT very big as the sleeping platform does not cover the whole floor..

If the weather is nice and its not too windy there is a couple awesome camping spots to the west of the trail as you head south from mary's rock.... last year the one spot was so well manicured you swore someone hike a lawn mower up there and cut it...

Drat, I wanna hike!!! I have to go to my niece's college graduation party.

Nemster, if you find a blue pot bag at Byrd's Nest 3, it's probably mine. Blew away from me last time while I was enjoying some evening spirits. Ok, a lot of them... It was all 32oz's fault. hehe

Nemster, if you are thinking about using Byrds nest 3 as a shelter, I would either make a back-up [;an, get there early, or carry a tent..

Given its location, sites, ease to get to, it will be popular... We lucked out as teh weekend we went was very cold and window... There were 6 of us (maybe 7) and I don't think it would have held any more then that..

We did that last weekend, Mapes. My body still hurts from building a stone wall. lol

Our gear is packed and the trailer is ready for it's maiden voyage to GNP. Camping at Apgar for the weekend and day hiking where we can. Probably to Apgar Lookout on Saturday - maybe the South Boundary Trail on Sunday. We'll see :) 75* and 83* in the forecast. Woot!

LMG... It must absolutely suck to be able to drive to GNP for an overnighter and a day hike!!!!!!!!!! Dang I'm jealous...

I will be doing on over 10 mile AT overnighter just south of SNP with a group of scouts. We will extend the trip by hiking around the Humpback Rocks area...

Weather is calling for thunderstorms and showers.. oh joy...

We're road tripping from here to Maine and back in July - a few stops & high points along the way. PA is a must stop. Hubby knows this. :)

Once we have our itinerary a little more "set", I'm going to let spindle & Co. know because I definitely want to see everyone! Either the end of the 1st week in July or the beginning of the last week. :)

Well getting ready to blast out....since we are dangerously close to June I will be instituting my "no camping below 85" rule. Will be heading north to N. Ga or NC for the weekend.

My friend wants to try the rafting so may do the Nantahala, hit some of the stores up that way....gonna rest (or so I hope LOL))
