I am not even sure about the weekend. I'm supposed to have a tractor pull Saturday but may be taking Mom to the Biltmore House for her birthday and Mother's Day.

Waiting to see if I am in a Juried Photo Show...if so the reception is Saturday night.

What a mix of culture, Tractor Pulls, Gallery Reception & hopefully some beer in there some where!

depends on the weather, barring rain (or at least much rain) going climbing down by Co. Springs. Hope to spend the other day in Rocky Mtn. NP. It's still full blown winter up there!

Stupid weekend can't come fast enough. But since I'm on the TT injured reserve list, no backpacking :(. I will be bikepacking instead :)

Our anniversary weekend, 21 years. Might go get my new trail dog, very excited! Australian cattle dog.

I hope so. It's a long way from the Bassett Hound that we lost last winter.

My daughter is graduating from community college after attending for 6 years (that's what happens when you get knocked up and move across the country). So I'm going to that, and her birthday is Sunday and we'll have a party.

Besides that, playing with camping gear and packing for 7 days in the wilderness next week.

Cute dogs, 1camper. A little high strung for my preference but if you have the time and patience I'm sure it will be a wonderful relationship.

Good luck.

lol well the are a bit high strung/hyper...this is true. They like to bounce around a lot. BUT that being said, they will focus very well on whatever job they think they have...and they MUST have a job. Jack (he is half cattle dog, half Kelpie) is obsessive about having a job. Luckily, he things rounding up dog toys, hiking, and herding cats is his job. he gets VERY serious on trail and very focused about it and that makes him listen very well to anything I want him to do.

There is no doubt in my mind about the abilities of those pooches. I've been around them plenty and they are very good dogs, damn beautiful, too. You just have to exercise the Hell outta them and they will be fine, like you stated.

I'm sure 1camper will be pleased with his choice and have many years of happiness.

:) Do you ever notice whenever there is a lost child/injured hiker with a dog that they find alive a lot of times it is a aussie dog that is with them keeping them warm ? :) I think that kind of loyalty is a beautiful trait of those dogs.

I haven't noticed that before but I certainly don't deny the possibility.

Some breeds do have the unconditional love for the master. Our staffordshire terrier/golden lab mix is one of those pooches. I haven't had her on the trail yet but I know that as long as she is around she would do everything in her power to make sure the family is safe.

I've owned dogs pretty much my whole life; this one is the best of them all.

Thats awesome q! The hound dogs we fostered would have never stuck around, no matter how much training was put into them. They are way too independent and tend to "go deaf" when they see something that they want to chase....never could be let off the leash or they would be gone for days, litterally. Not my favorite kind of dogs at all...too "doggy" lol. They needed way more excersise then my Jack, too. WAY MORE, yikes.

How old is your pup Q and when do y ou intend to show her the trail? :)
