I got the girls outfitted with cross country skis! Now, if we could just get a few more inches of snow.

I got together with my girlfriend and our kids. We helped the kids make and decorate cookies to be given to teachers, bus drivers, etc.

I spent a few hours investigating summer 2002 TT trips (Montana, Isle Royale).

Tomorrow? Laundry. :o(

then, i got a call about 930 pm that temple friends were meeting at the santa fe river for a full moon float.....luckily, i had not unloaded the kayak and lunatic that i am, headed out to meet them.
we were moonstruck......on the water til one am...very cool

Non stop rain all weekend long kept me inside. The good news is the Sierra got about 2 feet of fresh snow and it ain't supposed to stop this entire week!

Gonna bail outta this dump early on Friday and hit the damn slopes! Yeah, baby! YEAH! In the pow!

Sierra Snow
It didn't stop the whole time we were in Mammoth. Coming down so fast, each run was fresh tracks. Sat AM we were riding in the trees, hiked a little hill, about calf deep snow. Sun 4pm, tried to go up it for our last run, got off the boards and sunk waist deep! We skipped lunch both days, the snow was so good! It was whiteout and windy conditions, but we ride in the trees, so it was great! 39" this weekend, added to the 37" from last weekend.....this is gonna be a great season! Looking forward to next weekend!

btw, my new MT/R All Terrain tires are awesome in the snow!

Woo hoo!
Sass... I checked out my indicator light problem, ok so somehow my gascap was missing and it sounds like the additional oxygen pissed the computer off! So that was decent news and you were right. Best news... depending on weather I'll be walking my @ss up San Gorgonio next weekend!!!

Good deal! Birch and I drove all the way to Georgia with the engine light blinking and the door ajar bell dinging in a little ranger I used to have. Not so good for the nerves LOL. I was extra glad to find out whatever the blinking was about was a sensor that registered emission problems. If you disconnect your battery and reconnect it sometimes the light doesn't come back on and voila! your problem is gone. :o)

More Sierra powder
Saturday I made my first turns of the year after picking up my season pass to Sierra @ Tahoe. Yesterday I called in well and headed up to Sugarbowl (Sierra @ Tahoe was closed - too much snow and a closed highway). Sugarbowl received 3-6' (that's feet not inches) and we laid fresh tracks all over the mountain. Next Saturday it's back to Sierra @ Tahoe.

A small intimate get together with 13 TTers in a tiny cabin. A blazing fire in the firepit outside, good food, wine and beer. Possible indoctrination into the Polar Bear Club, maybe some tubing if we get snow and a nice long dayhike.

Off to Damascus. Gonna get a ride up towards Trout Dale and hike the AT and side trails back towards Mt Rogers. Over the mountain and down again, maybe Clark Mountain trail or a loop back to the AT. Lots of time - be out a week - so no specific agenda, just see what the trail throws my way. Bummer is that I think there's still a ban on open fires. Might actually get a little taste of winter, 'cause it sure ain't happenin' up here. Keeps up like this, I'll have firewood comin' out the wazoo come next summer.

Anyway, if any of you are in the Mt Rogers area from the 9th through the 15th and you see an all green hiker with a rust colored long-haired dog with a green dogpack (that's Leroy), say "hey".

WingDing, you have to drive north for the snow. Poppycock was up at Baldy yesterday and ended up slipping & sliding down a few hundred feet down the hill. Windy, cold and lotsa ice. Go to the Sierras, at least you'll get soft stuff there.

Tomorrow evening will be watching the youngest (10) in the Nutcracker.

Finally met Jerbear. What a blast. I-am-Om shares my mellow side and Jer's my kind of guy. I-am-Om, Jerbear and I had a great time even though the weather didn't cooporate. Imagine, cloudy skies in Florida. It's unAmerican I tell ya.

I met broken and friend in Saint Marys Wilderness as I was scoping out the river trail - the low end is in good shape blowdown wise - has one duck under that I will probably take out soon. The falls spur trail is clear. The upper end of the river trail looks like it will take some time to clear completely. There are apparently other people working on the blowdowns so it may get cleared faster than I suspect. I did not quite make it up to the Mine Bank Tr. intersection before the nice day and sore muscles convinced me to take my time going back to the trailhead.
