Gonna get the garage set back up again. Built a 16 foot work bench and mounted my miter saw in the middle of it. I may start working on an entertainment center for the Grandkid too.

Day hike on the AT in Pa. Go directly to mall after the hike to start/finish Christmas shopping. I figure after 6-7 hours on the trail, I'll be ripe enough to clear out some of the crouds.

Actually made it onto the trail for a dayhike yesterday. This was a break-in hike for the new boots - which were awesome. Went to Rock Springs Run State Preserve north of Orlando for about 8 miles of hot (82F) palmetto wandering. Maps and trails not well maintained which made for a little more adventure. Saw deer and a cotton mouth. Also discovered that the new tuna they sell in bags instead of cans works great for a dayhike.

om, thanks for the invite! I am indeed a fellow Floridian, I live in Orlando. I wish I could get out next week but wife and I will be visiting family in South Florida. I'm relatively new to TT so I look forward to meeting many of you on the ONF hike in February - will you be there? Is this weekend a scouting trip?

Your comment on cottonmouths got me wondering - I found this site (http://www.stetson.edu/~pmay/moc.htm) which was pretty interesting because it talks specifically about Florida flatwoods (which I'm sure you are all too familiar with.) The one I saw was only about 2 feet long and laying right in the middle of a dirt road - catching some rays.

Once again, thanks for the invite. I look forward to getting to know my fellow Florida hikers in the future.

big coop, yes this weekend is a preview, (for me)..rad has been there before.
that was an eye opening article on the cottonmouth.
i have seen what we call water moccasins while swimming, or hanging in branches over the rivers while kayaking/canoeing , but i have not "yet" encountered any vipers on land (i do more water oriented trips than hiking trips in florida , but that may change now that so many bp'ers are emerging from the swamps and jungles down here..:)
look forward to some florida hikes for sure(not in summer!! :) )
thanks for the article.

Yeah, most likely will go skiing. My only hesitation is the soreness of my thumb, my stiff right knee and the black and blue from knee to ankle on my right leg. I may go do some nice safe groomed trail skiing.

The joy is in the glide!
