“The snow doesn't let up. Gonna be cold and damp. I'll save my time for better weather. We want to go to Acadia, but really would appreciate better weather. Highs of 39 just don't do it. There is a lot of rock there, so if it's wet, you can still hike safely.

Guess I'll do some house work, maybe take the grandkids to a circus. I guess those things are important also. But man, do I wanna go to Acadia and have fun.”

“Ayuh, ah been there. Suzy and I hiked up there one day and I met a Royal Rangers (Similar to Boy Scouts) group up there. Seems the son of a good friend was in the group. Small world.

I still have some park maps from there jam in my New Hampshire Gazateer. If I remember correctly, I went to the Evans Notch Ranger station in Bethel to get the maps. When I got there, the stations were pretty much self pay systems, although I did find a station with a few maps.

Say, did you say Saturday? The circus is not until Sunday....

“My maps are basically 4 page foldovers with a map, brief trail description, contact info, back country ethics, etc, and a blank page. Half of this could be used for fire starter.... Really, you could access the maps on the web and hike it and have a pretty good time. The trail descriptions basically tell the elevations of the peaks, mention a couple brooks and tell if the views were 360 degree.

We are considering if we hike with you, Twigeater, which is always a good time, or do house work..... Normally, that would be a no-brainer, but we do have to get some things done some time..... Weather.com right now says 50% chance o f Precipitation..... oh I'm torn.....work... play... work.... play..... what is wrong with me????”

“I don't know what's wrong with me either - I forgot my bike today, and it was perfect riding weather. But I don't blame you guys, I stayed home last weeked instead of an overnight at Horn's Pond to do spring cleaning. Course the weather sucked big time, but still...and then I heard about the events of the trip and was almost glad I didn't go - put one of my "3 hour tours" to shame, lol! Although it sounded very intriguing and I'm sorry I wasn't there to witness each and every mishap. :)”
