Another Food ThreadView MessagesRE: Another Food Thread “* Looks for a virtual GUN to blow that squirrel away*” 12:21:57 PM 10/10/01 RE: Another Food Thread “Thanks TownDawg, Around here red squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) are also called boomers and are about 3/4's the size of a gray squirrel. The are native to the northeast and along the applachian mtns through NC and Tenn. Gray Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) live all over the eastern half of the US. Fox Squirrels (Sciurus niger)are about twice the size of a gray squirrel and live all over the eastern half of the US except the northernmost states. Fox squirrels weigh from two to three pounds(and are tough as shoe leather). Fox squirrels come in a varitey of colors from almost white to red to black. You boys in Georgia are seeing FOX SQUIRRELS! They just happen to be red.” 4:13:09 PM 10/10/01 RE: Another Food Thread “Oh yea, to cook gray squirrel: Boil squirrel in water (with a little salt) for about an hour. Take squirrel out of water. Use the cooking water to make rice. (measure out enought and dump the rest. Use a little more water than normal.) While rice is cooking: Pick meat from the bones. Throw away bone. Put meat in with the rice. Season to taste. Eat. 'round here that's called a "bush in a bog"” 4:18:45 PM 10/10/01 RE: Another Food Thread “heh.. and u were going to cook squirrel for us when?” 5:22:23 PM 10/10/01 RE: Another Food Thread “It was a squirrel.
