Smokies Oct. 28-29

“Hi everyone! Anyone interested in a backpacking trip to Mt. LeConte? I have 6 reservations left for the Mt. LeConte shelter on October 28. I am backpacking to Icewater Spring shelter on October 27 and then on to LeConte on the 28. ( I only have reservations for 2 at Icewater Springs shelter. ) Let me know at Adelicia1@aol.com”

“Hey Katibug ,you said you had 6 spots left in LeConte Shelter why would you reserve spots in a shelter when you are not sure if you can fill them all. October is the most popular month for backpacking in the Smokies and LeConte is one of the more popular shelters. Resevations are hard to get at some of the more popular B.C. campsites and shelters and I hate to see someone have to pass on a backpacking trip to the Smokies because you made more reservations than you obviously needed.”

“Avidhiker-Although I don't owe you an explanation re:reservations,when I first planned this trip over 8 people wanted to go. I don't yet have confirmation from all of the folks but I expect to fill most of the reservations. Also, if I don't, I will cancel what I don't need. Furthurmore, I stayed at LeConte shelter Oct. 3 ALONE! And, since Oct. 29 is on a Sunday, it is doubtful that the shelter will fill up anyway. I have a lot of experience in this area, so LAY OFF PLEASE!”
