Pack Recommendation
I am posting this for a friend of mine..

"One question: I have determined that I need a bigger pack. REI has several that I'm interested in: Arc'teryx Bora 80, Bora 95 (one-half lb heavier), and Gregory Whitney (it's on sale). Any suggestions?"

RE: Pack Recommendation
If I were going to buy a monster pack I would prefer the AT because w/o side pockets they are a little more streamlined. I love my Gregory Reality though. Tough choice I'm sure, could come down to a color preference. *G*

RE: Pack Recommendation
Try em both on loaded to the max. It's gotta be comfortable and stable. If it's the same in terms of comfort and stability go with the one with the most features that suit you. Money does not come into it.

RE: Pack Recommendation
I have a Bora 62. It's fits well, but it weighs 6 lbs. I've been checking into the packlite model. They price and weight is right on the packlites. Is anyone using one now?

RE: Pack Recommendation
I like the Dana Terra Plane.
It will carry a heavy load very well.
But I've gone to a smaller pack----the Macpac Ravine------cheaper and lighter too.

The Vau De, Aeroflex Tour 60 and 70 are both light and cheap.
They are big/small enough too at 3,600 and 4,200 for light-packin'.

RE: Pack Recommendation
Go w the one that fits best. There is truth in what some say - a pack can weigh a few lbs more, but if it fits properly, is well worth the extra weight.

I have an ArcTeryx & love it, but Gregory is an excellent pack as well.

RE: Pack Recommendation
You can't go wrong with a Gregory, imho. Maybe you ought to go with yer friend and spend time fitting the packs for/with him to see which feels the best.

Of course...it's better to look good than to feel good!

Hey Tommo, what do you think of your Macpac? And why did you choose it over the other brands?
