tahoe rim trail “I'm dying to check out the new Tahoe Rim Trail - looks like lots of opportunities for day to multi day hikes. They have a great website: tahoerimtrail.org. I am busy most weekends doing dog stuff but if I have a free weekend I will try to get something together. In the mean time, if anyone else has hiked any of the new trail, tell us about it!” 10:09:58 PM 10/16/01 RE: tahoe rim trail “Pepperdog, I hiked two sections back in '99 before it was officially completed. Started from the trailhead nearest Mt. Rose (forget the name) and finished at Kingsbury TH. The beginning was OK but the Spooner to Kingsbury is BORING! Hell, now that I think back on it, the trail is rather boring in general. Walk in forest. Get a glimpse of Tahoe. Back into forest. Glimpse of Tahoe. That dang lake is always on the right! I came away disappointed. But I'm sure the west side is better with Desolation Wldrness. Just my $.84. Very easy hiking and well graded if that's what you're up for.” 4:18:54 AM 10/17/01 RE: tahoe rim trail “You pick a time and day, and will come along. I dig hiking up there. I did a one nighter from Spooner to Mt Rose this summer and it was pretty good. The trail is clear, and the views aren't bad. There are day hiking opportunities all around the lake. The Tom Harrison Tahoe Recreation Map is pretty good for getting around up there, and shows quite a few of the trails. Pantscandy, I went the other way, and the lake was always on my left. LOL!!” 10:15:47 AM 10/17/01 RE: tahoe rim trail “When I was there, it was burnt!” 10:28:26 AM 10/17/01 RE: tahoe rim trail “There's a good chance I'll do part of the TRT this weekend, prolly solo, maybe w my son. Checking out different segments as I write, I'll keep y'all posted on what we end up doing.” 3:35:38 PM 10/17/01 RE: tahoe rim trail “I could get into that, but the season's getting late, isn't it? Might could see some powder up there before too long!” 9:02:07 AM 10/19/01
