“Still up in MA - 2:44, no matter what Matt's foolish clock says. Been a coupla weeks of late nights. Just finished wrapping up the illustrations for my friend Phil's book about his reed boat voyage from Arica, Chile to Easter Island. I was down in Chile January of 2000 helping build the thing - I'm the official graphic designer of the Viracocha Project. Plan is to build another boat on Rapa Nui and sail to Australia, build one down under and sail to Egypt, build and sail to Miami, build and sail back to Chile. They have to build so many boats because they get waterlogged and sink after about 6 months. Phil has promised me round trip airfare to each of the sites to help build the boats, so with any luck, I'll be spending the winter of 2002 on Easter Island.

Had to get the job done before I take off for the PA Grand Canyon on Thursday. At this rate, I'll be a walking zombie on the trail. Be up for another half hour, so I'll check back in 'fore I hit the sack.”
