“Admittedly APS doesn't have the resolution of 35mm For my purposes APS was great as long as I used the higher speed films. My first APS camera was the best of all of them if I used 400 speed Fuji film.”

“Hold onto that Jeep lizs! It?s a general rule with Jeeps, don?t get rid of one unless you?re getting another one. The only reason I got rid of my first one is because my buddy down at the dealer had to sell 12 of them on the last day of the month so I had him over a barrel (shat up Rad!). He called me at 10:30 AM and we haggled and I bought the thing over the phone. Went in by noon and drove it off.

“I use an APS for work because it fits in my pocket, a 35mm SLR for stuff I'll want to save and might want to enlarge, but my digital camera is great because I can take a jillion photos for free and emailing them is easy.

“A common problem in my digital camera pics is backlighting. Foreground too dark because exposure is determined by backlight.

On my Canon AE-1 there's a backlight button that adjusts the f-stop.

Can anyone tell me--either specific to my camera, or general to point-and-shoot cameras--how to handle backlighting?

My camera is a Kodak DC4800. It does have a manual f-stop dial. It also has the ability to change shutter speed. But either way, I think I still have the exposure problem.

(And if you are wondering...I have misplaced the manual.)

“Fritz- Many of the 'point and shoots' have 'spot metering' to read light, off of the subject, but that tends to 'blow out' the brighter background. You can 'fill in' the foreground, with the flash, if your subject is close enough”
