The Italians are at it again “Make love not war! Gear Slut is a shrew!” 12:30:10 PM 10/20/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “I'll always love Italy. Any country that invented pizza can't be all bad.” 12:01:05 AM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Ever been to Italy? Pizza over there is the crap you feed to your kids for lunch. It's like spaghettios” 12:17:25 AM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “I thought american GIs invented pizza while in Italy? Myth?” 12:23:07 AM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Being part Whaap and knowing some relatives right from the old country, I can say that the pizza they make here in the states is not the pizzamy relatives make. Normally it's made in a one inch deep rectangular pan. the dough usually ends up rising at least a couple of inches. Sauce is lightly and randomly spread over the top. Fresh slices of tomatoe, lightly cheezed and other stuff freshly sliced. umh umh good. I guess I kinda got carried away. Sorry” 9:30:02 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “What I do know is that a royal family moved to a part of Italy that made pizzas. The Queen Margharita asked to taste the pizzas, and she received three varieties. She liked the pizza we know today, sauce, basil, and mozzerella. The pizza was then named after her, Margharita.” 9:53:39 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “All I know is that Italian pizza and grappa = puking on the train later American pizza has more cheese and none of the good spices. mmmm basil” 9:57:06 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Biz must be Italian” 10:10:58 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “1/4” 10:16:11 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Biz, I grow my own basil, and it's my main spice in making sauce. From what I hear grappa is strong stuff. It may be similar to drinking Uzo, which is a Greek liquor.” 10:51:13 PM 10/21/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Joy : Myth. Pizza predates the Roman Empire. Pizza remains were found in Pompeii. Ancient recipes were found written in Etruscan. The American contribution is sprouts and pineapple. I have had many different varieties of pizza while in Italy. Yeah, some is crap. The good stuff is made around Naples. Depends how much effort the preparer wants to put into it.” 12:48:31 AM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Spaghetti is originaly from China.” 12:51:21 AM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Noodles are originally from Oodles.” 12:57:29 AM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Nigal, everything is originally from China according to the Chinese.” 12:45:43 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “We ate at a restaurant in Italy once. And the girl we were with wanted her pepperoni pizza w/ a side of "chips" (aka french fries). The guy didn't understand english so much. He brought her a pizza covered in french fries and ketchup with one single pepperoni on top. Then, when we gave him a credit card to pay, he jumped on his moped and drove away... Needless to say, we were very concerned. He returned 20 minutes later w/ a receipt from another restaurant. It turned out that he didn't have credit card capabilities but his brother's restaurant did. So he took it there to charge it! Crazy place!” 12:59:09 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “my friend Lauren went to Italy last summer, and she told me she saw a guy going around a traffic circle in this teeny-tiny 3-wheel car. his car tipped over, and he fell out...then he got up, righted his car, and jumped back in and took off!! LOL...i just can't picture a CAR that's small enough to do that!” 1:09:39 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “So who has a good recipe for Marinara sauce?” 1:47:38 PM 10/22/01 Did someone say picture??? “ ”2:05:26 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “never too old for a Hot Wheels...” 2:11:51 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “So what's the deal with garlic bread?” 2:13:22 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “ah yes, the eternal mystery of garlic bread...i think some things are better left unasked, Tilt ;-)” 2:36:45 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “It's a conundrum wrapped in an enigma, with riddle sauce.” 2:40:29 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “French bread pizza is the best!” 2:45:19 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Gear Slut, those Chinese did invent a lot of stuff...they've been around a long time. Stuff invented for backpacking; matches (invent by Chinese women under siege), compass, paper (TP), printing (maps) etc. Other weird stuff include; ice cream, sunglasses, gunpowder etc. As in any nation, it was corruption that did them in (plus the commies didn't help).” 3:47:24 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Yep, but it's fun to see someone Chinese and someone Italian argueing about who invented stuff first. LOL” 4:13:32 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Credit the Chinese with the world's first forest practices laws -- circa 2500 BC. Laws from then regulated timber harvesting on steep hillsides.” 4:18:20 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “"orient (v) 1 a : to cause to face or point toward the east; specifically : to build (a church or temple) with the longitudinal axis pointing eastward and the chief altar at the eastern end b : to set or arrange in any determinate position especially in relation to the points of the compass c : to ascertain the bearings of 2 a : to set right by adjusting to facts or principles b : to acquaint with the existing situation or environment 3 : to direct (as a book or film) toward the interests of a particular group"” 4:28:18 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Lyra, I didn't know churches and temples were built to face the east...learn something new everyday.” 4:38:38 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “kewl, huh? me too. and, "orient" (the adjective) means (archaically) "rising in the sky."” 4:41:17 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Gear Slut, who's argueing. Just stating some facts.” 4:43:27 PM 10/22/01 RE: The Italians are at it again “Oops, forgot about you Gordon....sorry. That's news to me also, Thanks.” 12:17:39 AM 10/23/01
