Phil, I lived in Hemestede for about a month. Then I lived in Haarlem (this is where Harlem, NY comes from)for the rest of the time. Haarlem is about 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam. I stayed for a few days in Rotterdam and a few days in Appledorn. I spent just a bit of time in Maastricht as well. I went to the beach at Zanvoordt (I think I spelled that wrong) quite a bit. The only spots I didn't visit were in the North. Where was your uncle?

Le Subtil, I am going to need some help w/ that. I don't speak much German and I barely read any.

Bravo Violin. I don't think the tourists can appreciate a good joke.

It's supposed to say "I'm ready to go, sweetheart". I don't speak German either really.

Okay, Dunadan, beer from either one of those countries is also excellent, but German beer kicks all other's butts.

Le Subtil, where do you want to head first? LOL!

Canada 3 days,
Mexico 1 month...
I don't get out much.

Ireland maybe, but Belgian Ales are the worst, however, at well over 8% alcohol on average, my opinion can be debated.

"I thought beer was invented by the Egyptians?"

No no! The Egyptians were invented by the Chinese as well as beer, spaghetti, and the LeCar.

I think those little lottery scrat off scrapers were Chinese also but it could also be atributed to the Kentuckians. Again, I can't be sure of this.

Also, if you are in Belguim, why not just jump across the border into Holland and forget beer? HeHeHe!

I'd like to spend a little time in the north and adjust to the new surroundings a little, then work our way south to where the really interesting stuff is.

The most northern city I know of is called Aachen. I got there at 2 in the morning and left at 10. It had a creepy vibe, but I stayed in a cool hotel. What kind of budget do we have?

RE: praise for Deutchland
Well, newgirl, I'm guessing why you went to the Netherlands. LOL
We didn't get there because of our pre-planned itinerary, but I would love to go someday.
Which European country produces the most varieties of beer? That's right, Belgium. And if you have ever taken the time to sit in a tavern in Belgium and taste their fine ales, you will have a hard time arguing against them as the #1 beer country. There are many Europeans who would agree with me.
