RE: pet stories!
Anybody want a Samoyed ? I went out back this morning and saw some feathers on the deck. Upon futher investigation I found one of my chickens dead . No biggie, I was getting to many eggs anyways.

Thanks, lyra. I'm afraid Jazz won't be needing a dating service after that little operation she had a couple years ago! ;-)

RE: pet stories!
A couple of weeks ago, when we were hiking up Old Speck in Grafton Notch, lazy ole Suzy was having a dog gone good old time. We took about 4 hours to get to the top and it was snowing. Our day packs were pretty full. Generally when we hike that many miles, we camp out.

On the way back down, instead of rushing 50 feet ahead, Suzy was running off the side of the trail and letting us walk by. Then she would rush by us and head off the trail again. We couldn't figure out what she was doing for a while. Then it dawned on us! She was choosing out nice flat spots! She wanted us to camp out up there. What a nut case!!!!

When my labs were still pups in the brain but adults in the body the were running around like crazy and wound up doing a head on collision that made such a horrific sound it still gives ME a headache just thinking about it. After that was the first time I ever saw them take it easy on a walk, they were a little wobbly themselves. I'll never forget that sound...

my husband and i were building a log home on webb mtn. near cosby , tn back in 1976 ...and we decided to move in when the logs were set and plumbing was in even tho there was no chinking or doors yet. We had a house warming party with all our friends and neighbors.
Huge ham and all the fixin's......a beauty of a spread....
while we were all out on the porch passin...er, enjoying the view , our big ole redbone hound dog, Floydy Boy, made away with the entire uncut ham.....
it was the beginning of a more vegetarian based diet for me.
floydy lived til he was 20...died here in fla, of a heart attack during a lightning storm......

Bear (chow) used to chase cats. The cats would look in the screen door, and tease Bear. One day Bear crashed thru the screen door and chased the cat out in the street. The cat made it between the passing cars tires, but bear hit the hub cap(ouch!). He got a bloody nose from it. Since the vet put a collar on him (cone type), they decided to do some surgery that we had been putting off. A problem with some chows, too much eyelid and the lashes cause it to water, so he had cosmetic eye surgery. We also wanted him fixed, so they took care of that end too. Poor guy knew something was missing, but couldn't look down there with the cone on his head! As he got older, we realized he only wanted to play with the cats, but the cats would run and it was a game to him. After obedience school, he learned to control himself (or maybe it was thr car/surgery incident).

We had, now my daughter has the sweetest little dog in the world(Boomer)he thinks he`s a little boy. If you place a baseball cap in the floor he will stick his head in it and roll over and come up with it on his head and he will walk around as proud as you please with it on until you take it from him.

He`s a little pug-nosed outfit and can`t bark worth a flip, but if you place a hairbrush or can of hairspray in the floor he`ll go nuts barking at it like it was the devil his-self.

You can`t run a hairdryer that he doesn`t beg to have his hair dried as well. He`s such a funny little bunny!

His eyelids must not be long enough to keep the light out of his eyes when he sleeps because he puts his paws over his eyes when he sleeps out in the open, but more times than not he sleeps under the couch and just peaks out at you and all you see is his stubby nose and big bugged out eyes staring at you. We call him the monster under the couch!
