“Dunadan - The Dodger-Giant rivalry was one of the great rivalries...especially in the 60's. Both teams were awesome to watch...great baseball...but I had Dodger blue blood in my veins. I will admit the Giants could hit home runs...Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, etc. The Dodger strength was there depth in pitching.

IMHO, Willie Mays was one of the greatest "all-around" baseball players of all time. In fact, I believe he was the best. He could hit, hit for power, run, steal bases, catch, and (something many people overlook) throw. He threw a lot of guys out at the plate from center field!! If he had played at any other stadium, he would have broken Babe Ruth's home run record before Hank Aaron.

“Hey Phil, I used to love Sandy Koufax, but my allegiance would never let me admit it, openly. I agree, those games in the sixties were great to watch. I loved Marichal, but lost a lot of respect for him when he hit that Dodger. (Who was that Dodger, anyway?)
Oh, and thanks for Dusty Baker. He has been a good manager for us. It was hard to look at him with a Giants uniform on for a year or two.

I remember watching a game once where all three Alou brothers were in the outfield at the same time...very unusual.

I believe I listened to most of Sandy Koufax's no-hitters on the radio...including his perfect game. He was something else.

My interest in the Dodgers revived when Orel Hershiser had his good years. I liked Tommy Lasorda because he could get the most out of any team. Tommy lives near me and people see him around town (although I haven't). A lot of the Angel players live nearby also (I live 10 minutes from the stadium). My wife fills some of their prescriptions from time to time.”

“The "Sey Hey Kid!" In spite of his success, I think he remained a "regular guy"...never got a big head or complained about the wind blowing in at Candlestick Park.”
