Savage Gulf closings?

“Just read on another site that all Tennessee state parks are now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays as a cost saving measure, including Savage Gulf. Anyone confirm this?

Also read that at the bottom of the gulf there is now a new 100' long suspension bridge over the dry river bed. True?”

“They were building on that bridge when we were there earlier this year if you remember. It's the one on the Connector Trail. I don't know if the bridge is complete yet though.

As far as all the parks closing on Monday & Tuesday, I don't know about "All" of them but I know some are. Some may close for one month a year. Some two days a week and some are just closing certian sections. I'll check it out and let ya know.”

“None of this really affects my favorite hiking places ecept Frozen Head. It closes on Monday & Tuesday. That's OK cause I gotta work those days anyway.”

“Savage Gulf is not mentioned in the listing. I was just at Frozen Head a month ago and I know they close Monday & Tuesday.

Yeah Lobo, it sucks but there are lots of other places to go walk in Tennessee that are non-State Park. Plus most people can only do weekend trips so it's not interupting most peoples fun anyway.
The reason for the closings is because Tennessee can't manage their money in that area and this is how to save.
Some Parks are also charging a fee to get in now. This is completely brand new in Tennessee.”
