i agree crash, one of the main things about this whole deal was that the whole state was gonna be on the same time, now a few renegade counties are gonna get their own time zone...didn't really fix much

Wake up to the 'daylight-saving' bug

By Joris Evers
Staff Writer, CNET News.com
February 16, 2007, 4:00 AM PST

This year, daylight saving is starting early--a change that could cause Y2K-like headaches for IT professionals, and even for consumers.

Congress decided in 2005 to extend the period of daylight-saving time by three weeks in spring and one in the fall, reasoning that providing more daylight in the early evening would reduce energy use. However, the shift could cause trouble with software set to automatically advance its clock by an hour on the old date, the first Sunday in April, and not on the new date, the second Sunday in March.

"There has been a great deal of speculation of what the impact could be," said M3 Sweatt, chief of staff of Microsoft's customer service team. "For most people, the most apparent issue is that meetings and reminders may appear to be off by one hour."

But Microsoft may be downplaying the risk. Some say those companies that don't pay full attention to the issue are in for a rude awakening.

Seems you're on the wrong timeline anyway, if you're up so early and posting at TT?

I know... What am I doing awake at this ungodly hour?? (not really that ungodly, LOL)

Thinking about time will mess with your head, though. I read lots of Science Fiction when I was younger and time travel is always a popular subject... But The Verb Tenses Will Drive You Insane! LOL ---

Nevermind the paradoxes and the cause & effect craziness... It's the verbs that get you in the end.

Reading Microsquish webpages about software patches isn't much better!

...huh?!? What are you talking about? Can you say that again, in english...or are you just talking so confuse because the mess with your head belongs into bed?

You better make sure you get back on the correct timeline, befor you cause a rupture in the continuum.

It's Monday morning -- ruptures in the continuum are pretty much standard operating procedure!

Understood. Write an SOP. Inform the managment about the rupture in the Monday morning continuum. Get the building evacuated.

I read about this elsewhere. This woman frequently writes letters to the editor and is known for her sarcasm, which many people misinterpret.

It's still funny as heck though.

Unfortunately the writer fails to take into account that February only has 28 days. That's a whole 48 hours to help offset the warming.

There's a pretty good spoof writeup floating around the net talking about how the Alabama Governer was changing the value of pi because it had too many decimal points and was difficult to remember.

again, i just wanna say the move to dst in indiana was fcking stupid. they did it so that other people, especially business people, calling from other states wouldnt get confused worrying about what time of year it was to know what time it was in indiana. so what do they do in the end? put most of the counties on eastern time, but let a few counties stay on central time. now, people from other states have to worry about what county theyre calling, instead of the time of the year, DEFEATING THE ORIGINAL PURPOSE OF GOING TO DST. INCREDIBLE!
