Off to the canyon

“Leaving tonight for 4 days in the Grand Canyon with Mary Phyl and Kris.

I have a new toy to take and play with too! It's the Integral Designs Sil Shelter. 14 oz shelter for two. We'll see!

Stix4legs, this is my first canyon hike of any kind! I have heard that southern Utah is wonderful though.

“I'm going to the Grand Canyon with my son on November 17th. We're going south to south and staying overnight at the Phantom Ranch. It should be fun.

“I'm tentatively looking at Thanksgiving for my 3rd return trip to the Canyon. Hoping to hookup with some friends from Chandler, AZ and do some backpacking.

Is it still possible to get backcountry permits this close to our departure date?

Wouldn't mind meeting some TT'ers but this is a special trip. I'm celebrating 1 year being engaged and we're going back to the S. Kaibab trail where I proposed.
