HotmailView MessagesHotmail “I had to say something. I'm so freakin annoyed by hotmail now. I'm sure you all have noticed that when you exit your hotmail, another MSN screen shows up. If you try to click on a bookmark or do anything else to circumvent getting the msn screen, it just jams up the computer. You have to let the damn thing load. Grrrrrrrrr.” 3:58:51 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “I would post something inteligent but my computer is jammed up too.” 4:57:14 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “ice tea, what kind of jam?” 8:03:10 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “Don't log off/exit. I know MSN doesn't like that but screw 'em. Use the back button to get to the original screen. Then navigate to where you want.” 8:09:40 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “Just don't forget to sign out when you are all done if you are on a public computer. I can't even get INTO hotmail right now. That seems to happen quite a bit.” 8:25:33 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “The pastor of my wife?s church has a Hotmail account and he can?t delete spam without opening it first. He opened some kind of porn spam to delete it and the e mail contained something that changed his ?home? site to the porn site the e mail was spamming. Even though he has a filter the change happened and the next person to use the computer was his 8 year old daughter. He was less than humored. I used to have an account there but wanted to dump it and found that there is no way to delete your account. You just have to let it sit there and rot until it dies.” 8:30:31 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “They changed the length of time it takes for it to die--only 30 days now.” 8:32:06 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “If you want out of hotmail just turn off cookies and try to bring up a screen, any screen. It will kick you out, and untill you turn your cookies back on, you can't get back in. I haven't had a problem with spam. But, I keep cookies, java, and javascript turned off unless I really need them. It seems to help.” 8:38:11 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “set up a POP to retireve it.” 9:39:35 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “or just forward it all to another account.” 9:46:04 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “Thanks for all the advise. rad, that's a good idea too. I do have another mail account to pop at. You can be so helpful when you want to be, lol.” 10:08:38 PM 11/04/01 RE: Hotmail “Just can't get away from that Darn SPAM can ya?” 8:48:07 PM 11/05/01 RE: Hotmail “One of my hotmail accounts is spam free. I don't remember how I did it (but there's a way). The other one is all cluttered.” 9:09:59 PM 11/05/01 RE: Hotmail “When I tried to use their filters to keep the junk out I couldn't get any mail - not even a blank note from myself! Anyone know of a better alternative?” 9:16:25 PM 11/05/01 RE: Hotmail “Yeah. In the past week I've received 187 solicitations on my hotmail account. Anyone need to consoidate their debt, use a natural form of viagra, become irresistable to the opposite sex or increase the size of their pen!s? I can make some referrals.” 9:19:38 PM 11/05/01 RE: Hotmail “Personally I use a freeware program called E-Prompter to retrieve all of my emails. Those I wish to actually download into Outlook, I can still do so. Otherwise, I just let my E-Prompter delete them the next time it checks for email. That goes for Hotmail as well as all my pop3 accounts. Oh yes, it also logs on and checks your email for you automatically on any schedule you choose.” 7:23:00 AM 11/06/01 RE: Hotmail 7:25:54 AM 11/06/01 RE: Hotmail “Thanks Hobbit. I know things have been silly lately at tt, but I miss seeing your posts.” 10:34:32 PM 11/07/01 RE: Hotmail “you know you can configure outlook express use an web based account as a pop3 server, but standard Outlook won't do it. Wierd” 10:40:11 PM 11/07/01 “If you have a Hotmail account, they have pulled a fast one on us. Sign into your account, click on “Options,” then “Personal Profile”. You’ll notice two checked boxes giving them permission to “Share my e-mail address” and “Share my other registration information” even if you explicitly told Microsoft not to do so when you signed up! Bastards!” 2:54:06 PM 5/20/02 “Violin, you were right. I wonder how long that crap has been going down. I'm pi$$ed!” 2:58:54 PM 5/20/02 “I think it just happened. Get ready for even more spam.” 3:00:41 PM 5/20/02 Happened 2 weeks ago.... “...at least. I'm now getting over 120 emails a day, which I sent to the "junk mail" box (but it still takes up the space in my account). Hotmail is trying to make their subscribers order their "extra storage" package.” 3:05:36 PM 5/20/02 “Oh, stanlee, I bet that is exactly the deal. The evil ba$tards!” 3:06:38 PM 5/20/02 “Try unchecking them. Mine were not checked when I signed up and still are not checked.” 3:16:53 PM 5/20/02 “If you uncheck them they will update. These boxes were added since I signed up several years ago and opted out of similar features.” 3:22:30 PM 5/20/02 “Yeah I noticed them last week and nixed them. That really cheeses me off. Even Yahoo had the courtesy to notify their customers. Of course, I only use my hotmail account as a junk mail receptacle now that they lowered the space so ridiculously.” 3:26:32 PM 5/20/02 Un-Checked mine “Thanks....I was wondering where Kinky Dan and his amazing $luts were getting my address.” 3:28:32 PM 5/20/02 “You need to check updates to terms and conditions every once and awhile. That's how banks and other companies pull over stuff on you by changing the TnC's. It's hard to keep up with on purpose as insurance and financial instutitions are the only companies required by law to inform you of changes to the TnC's. (At least those are the only ones I know of that are required)” 3:29:14 PM 5/20/02 “Also, you need to change your email addresses now or the flow will never stop.” 3:30:18 PM 5/20/02 Thanks! “I'm un-checking mine too! I get tired of being reminded everyday by some spammer that I need a bigger pen!s” 3:31:08 PM 5/20/02 “I know. How can they tell just from my birthdate and occupation?” 3:32:35 PM 5/20/02 “hmmm.... I keep getting spam to SHRINK my pen!s. Again, how do they know, especially when I listed phony personal info?” 4:45:37 PM 5/20/02 “my filter is set to exclusive. my junk mail folder is always full but who cares im not checking junk.Hotmail wants me to dish out 20bux for xtra storage.F 'em. Never give hotmail, yahoo yer real names or addresses ect.Its none of their biz.” 6:50:59 PM 5/20/02 “Won't even let me uncheck mine......I've had my account since 1995..before Microsoft bought the company..I guess those were the good ole days.....” 7:10:45 PM 5/20/02 “My first email account was a hotmail address, but due to the number of spam, I only use it as a "junk mail box." I dont see how people even stand to use it as their primary account. I was pissed when I first started receiving 100 spam email's a day and I emailed hotmail and made them aware of my anger. I told them that I didnt appreciate them selling my email address and they replied with, "we never sell email addresses." But I guess they get us by checking approval boxes. I just hope nobody ever gives in and gives them money. Screw them! Just use them when you need a fake address!” 8:32:05 PM 5/20/02 “I've had my hotmail account since '97. I've never had the stinkin' ridiculous spam I get now. I've had enormous amounts in the last several wks. Thanks to their frickin' scam.” 11:13:50 PM 5/20/02 “From what's written here...I guess their scam is blowing up in their faces...they'll end up losing more customers.” 12:24:33 AM 5/21/02 “Now I know what's going on. The junk mail just kept coming in and using up all my storage space. They probably want that to happen so you'll have to pay for more storage. I unchecked the boxes and keep blocking the junk, but it may be a losing battle.” 12:48:19 AM 5/21/02 “thanks for the info Violin, it may not do any good but I'm drafting one nasty note to Hotmail.” 3:31:29 AM 5/21/02 “Thanks Violin, My one hotmail account was getting spam, and because that acount has my real age linked to it I never got any porno spam, but Im getting spam that tells me how to grow muscles and get big, or lose weight.” 6:33:33 AM 5/21/02 “Thanks for the heads up!!!! but i'm fearing it is to late. I must get 30 something spams a day. .... and those filters hardly seem to work all the time. Screw Hotmail!” 8:32:40 AM 5/21/02 “That's why I dumped Hotmail a while ago - especially because I access my mail at the school where I teach. I didn't need the stuff that I was getting. Kinda makes ya sad.” 1:41:15 PM 5/21/02 “hotmail sucks!” 1:45:33 PM 5/21/02 Please punch yourself in the balls. 12:35:13 PM 6/28/02 “okay, my hotmail is seriously f'ed up. maybe you people can be of use to me, for once. ;-) hehe! sooo anyway, i can receive emails, but i can't send any (since friday). i've deleted a whole bunch of stuff, and am now using only 8% of my storage space, so i know that's not the problem. everything else on my computer is working fine, the problem is confined solely to hotmail. help meeeeee!!” 10:15:04 AM 8/12/02 “Get a Yahoo! account. I've got one I use when I'm out of town. Never been any trouble.” 10:31:18 AM 8/12/02 “yeah, i have one. i just like to have both, for some reason. hotmail just seems more fun, somehow...must be the ridiculous rules and ever-decreasing storage space. i mean, why would i ever get rid of that account? tehe.” 10:37:04 AM 8/12/02 “More people have trouble with their Hotmail accounts than anything else I've ever seen. I tried to send email to my stepbrother's Hotmail address this weekend. After 3 tries and three bounces, I gave up. I couldn't tell from the message if the address didn't exist, or if his mailbox was full, or what. I'll have to contact him by phone to straighten this out. Ugh. Hate the phone even worse.” 10:39:43 AM 8/12/02 “Dunno. I found the following message in mine, but it really doesn't pertain: Reminder: Change in Sent Messages Folder Please note that due to a recent policy change, e-mail messages retained in your Sent Messages folder will be deleted after 30 days. This measure is being undertaken to help users maintain a 2MB Inbox and will primarily affect users of Outlook® Express, which automatically retains all sent e-mail. If you have e-mail messages in your Sent Messages folder that you want to keep, you can transfer them to your Inbox or another folder prior to the 30-day expiration.” 10:46:51 AM 8/12/02
