RE: Trail names
Lizs called me Bobka, for that eastern european theme. ;-)

A new possible name comes to me every morning on the drive to work. Today's unconscious offering - Summicron

Yesterday's - Timex

I think I am still looking.

My wife's family is big into giving people nicknames. While we were dating, they all referred to me as mediaman because I work at a TV station. I didn't find this out until a couple years later- about the same time I was first getting onto TT.

Even teat-boy would get the nod over anything to do with jawjuh! It's a state, but not a state of mind (or mine, for that matter). Alabama is more like home to me, but the kind of home you really don't want to go back to all that often!

Hint: Anything too "neck-ish" just doesn't work for me.

Hey Tahoe, mine's from a lake too, actually two lakes; Upper and Lower Aero Lakes. 10,000 feet up in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness- my all-time, favorite hike. It's only open during the 6 weeks of summer, though.

RE: Trail names
Those are some good names, Fritz. Some other generic photo terms could be good also. What about f-stop or aperture? Flash might make people think I hike fast, and nothing could be further from the truth. Flashbulb might work, though. That would be in keeping with the 30 to 40 year old cameras I use.

When I was a boy scout, the only merit badge I ever got was in photography. Well, there was also that basket weaving one, but I don't usually 'fess up to that one!

Yeah, Tilt, I sure see a lot more peaches growing in S. Carolina than in Georgia! But I guess you shouldn't judge a state by what you can see from I-85!

Zeiss makes great lenses, if you like the cameras they generally come attached to. ;-)

I don't, yet, have a name that has derived from a trail experience.

So, for now, mine is just what it is. I'm sure it's obvious. But, for the less intelligent, I'll explain:

Tarabull - sounds like Terrible and Tara is my real first name... And I am terribly fun, witty, smart, etc...

Way back in the dark ages I was hiking with some friends from high school. We were going up a scree covered incline and I wasn't making any progress. Just slipping and sliding back down. one of my so called friends said I looked just like a hamster in a wheel and it stuck, Hamster. Over the years it morphed into Pamster and that is my sad, sad tail, I mean tale.

Kinda stay to myself except when I am on trail talk and the wolf is my totem, so some one said. Bob, I kinda liked the F-stop myself, it sounds pretty original. I don't want to pack with any of the looneys in here because it would lead to a different name for me. mawmuftashonfara or blazingpacksaddles or whydidyadothat, howdidyagetascarthere would be some of the likley ones.

Let's see, we have Flash and Splash..maybe we need Whiplash now too?

Lobo, the wolf is my totem too, but did you know they are the most socialized creatures in the animal kingdom?

In fact, that whole "lone wolf" myth is actually far-fetched. Wolves are only loners when they are in transition between packs.
