If you could see him with his daughter you'd know, he's a gentle spirit.” 9:27:33 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Moooohahahahaha....that is what he'd like you to think!” 9:31:38 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Hippie: a usu. young (old)person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally(read backpack) or favoring communal living)(read tent) and advocates broadly : a long-haired (read Bald)unconventionally dressed young person.” 9:40:15 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Hiker: pretty self explanitory 66: as in 1966 the year I was born. It's also an oxymoron from my buddies because I am just a back country harmonica playing redneck and damn pround of it.” 9:42:18 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Bobka.........tripod fits for your photography, too. Hey, I need to write you with a couple other cool photo things going on. There's some people who meet with a pro photog in this weird chatroom thing where you can post photos. Everyone comments by typing, although the moderator/photographer talks. So yes, you need sound setup. It's pretty interesting, although the photog can be obnoxious. I'll have to send you a link. Also, try www.photo.net/ for interesting posts and comments. The site is HUGE!!” 9:45:44 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “ "Come, [Magua / le Subtil] said...'the wigwam of the Huron is still open." Drawing and engraving by Tony Johannot” 9:57:53 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “lizs, please do send me a link on the moderator/photographer thing. This sounds cool. I visit photo.net often. They have a good leica forum, and the large format forum is cool, too.” 9:59:21 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Yep Lu Subtil, definitely afraid now.” 10:01:23 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Well, my son got his before he was thrown off a Star Trek message board. It seems he was a little too annoying even for a bunch of Trekkies. He really is a very bright child, just a little overactive. Please be understanding.” 12:57:15 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Tripod, I can't help but giggle. I was once told a story about a person met on the AT on Hike Naked Day a few years back. His name was Tripod cause if his, well, never mind.” 2:56:14 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “**giggle**” 3:01:52 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “COOL!” 3:05:27 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “So someone had this name, and they really deserved it? Damn! I don't know if I can handle the pressure!” 3:13:55 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “i um...can help u with that pressure....hee hee hee” 3:17:42 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “My last name is Wing and and when I was young my friends called me WingDing.” 3:31:50 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Keep it Tripod. I don't even know if this story was true. I just had to metion it because I thought it was funny as all get out. I understand about the pressure though. LOL!” 3:36:44 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “That tripod name sucks! I'm going back to Bobka. vixtrix, as far as trolls go, you are one of the more enjoyable ones!” 3:36:54 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Pamster..ROFLMBO..but WAY too much information!! Bobk - keep tripod, it suits your interests. Or you could always be Schlong-along-a-ding-dong. ;-)” 3:45:36 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “WHAT THE HELL there is no way little ol me is a troll...whered that rumor come from?” 3:47:59 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “I married into a U.P. Finn family and started attending some ethnic events where some assumed my name would be Finnish, too. A mention of us in a Finnish-language newspaper Finnified my anglo name, so I thought I should have one for real when I posted here. Pekka is a popular man's name in Finland and one of the easier ones to pronounce. My brother just sent me a book titled "Finnish Aces of WWII." A Lt. Pekka Kokko is on the roster and all those K's are a hoot. Kokko means "bonfire" in Finnish, and in fact I'd thought of it when choosing a TT moniker, because I've always loved building fires, but will keep it in reserve. Sassafras and Birch, if you want to tag your little one, koivun kaiku (think the spelling's right) means "echo of the birch" in Finnish.” 6:09:59 PM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “And she is the spitting image of her Dad! Good one Pekka but might be hard to remember how to spell!” 10:03:23 PM 11/08/01
