An excellent point!” 5:01:15 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Thanks tx, I am really an alpha male but it didn't sound so good. I like the myth, tis fitting since I have my cubs but am inbetween packs for now.” 5:07:03 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “I hear ya Lobo, I rate as the Alpha Female with cubs also. I guess you could say we are our own pack? Hunting sure is lean when there is only one Alpha in the pack though..LOL” 5:11:07 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “I'm new to bping, I was new to TT, and I'm a girl. Simple.” 5:19:16 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “hunting was pretty poor this year also. I tracked down one beer and a box of mac and cheese, it was tough the mac and cheese almost landed a fatal blow. I have been called a pack of something before or was that a sack of something.” 5:20:30 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “I don't know where the the "blue" comes from-just a nice alliterative touch. But the belch, I earned that the old fashioned way.” 5:25:14 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “"Alpine" is pretty self-explanatory, but my first name also happens to be "Alan". It seemed like a good fit. BobK: If you're lookin' for a photography related name there should be lots of possibilities. How 'bout Filter, Winder, Emulsion, or Cable Release? Well, maybe not...” 5:52:30 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “or maybe tripod, viewfinder or focus.” 5:55:42 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “BTW, I'd keep "switchback". That seems like a great hiking handle.” 6:03:32 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Because I race on skis all winter long. Slalom and Giant Slalom. Even when not in the race course, I like to ski fast.” 6:23:50 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “I read this article in Backpacker or Outside about a lady who took women out for wilderness trips. She gave them wolfsister status after they successfuly completed the trip. I take newbie female type people out all the time and tell them if they sleep out in the woods two nights in a row they are "wolfsisters". Besides I'm a girl and everyone knows girls always run in packs!” 7:35:51 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “yep and they bring home the bacon too” 7:47:32 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “packs? not me i prefer to go solo” 7:49:43 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “just to throw this out i have a brother with the trail name "pop n' fresh"” 7:53:18 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Was SARBoy...quit SAR so it's no longer applicable...went on a hike with Trailartist, and spent 20 minutes waiting for a marmot to pose for a picture (and even got pretty close to it when she was sure it would run off). Finally got the pic. Trailartist dubbed me marmot at that point.” 8:03:56 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “When you live in Pennsylvania, hike, and have absolutely NO imagination, you come up with this.” 8:24:12 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “This thread has to be some sort of record for most posts in a single day. Congrats SN!” 8:35:26 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Bequeathed Sassafras by my husband. I'm not sure why...” 8:39:04 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Born and raised in California and proud of it” 8:43:29 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “MOLE IS MY NAME AND I'VE SOLD MY SOLE TO MOLESKIN” 8:48:52 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “mine is not as creative as the others. It is my initials.” 8:54:27 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “I always thought it was because you're wild. I'm kinda dissapointed.” 8:56:13 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “vixen because i admire foxes and trixs, well... i like to play jokes on those who dare to cmap with me HEE HEE HEE” 8:56:36 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Follow me up the trail and I''l show you :)” 9:01:46 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “To add to the record.... I work, rescue and play in the mountains.” 9:02:04 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Well...it's just my name.” 11:26:28 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Mondale?” 11:40:28 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Walkindude = A dude that walks” 11:43:20 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names 11:46:27 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “like the dog but uh...lose the human” 11:47:59 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “hee hee hee just kidding bud” 11:49:22 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “no you weren't. keep the dawg” 11:52:12 PM 11/07/01 RE: Trail names “Hoooowwwwllllllllllll!” 12:01:32 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Actually my trail name came from a book/movie "The Windwalker" This is from the introdution... "As Indians, we are moved when we contemplate the Windwalker, an old man who is a child of Mother Earth and the Great Creator. Through him we see the spirit of our people, a people with total reverence for life- reverance for Earth-Maker, the giver of life; for our relationship with Him; for the earth, which is seen not as an object for exploitation but as an inseperable part of existence and a complement in forming eternity." John C. Rainer, Jr. Taos Pueblo-Creek-Cheyenne” 1:08:54 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “When they were little, I read the Lord of the Rings to my kids, while sitting around campfires. My daughter called me strider a couple times, and it seemed a reasonable handle for this forum. Can't bring myself to capitalize it tho - I don't pretend to have the same 'stature' as Telcontaur.” 1:27:56 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “I can't believe I haven't jumped in on this thread yet. My name is from wearing lipstick on the trail. I just feel comfortable with it on, and I use it to moisturize my lips.” 1:37:53 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “I wore Clinique lipstick with SPF on the 30 day trip. My lips never chapped!” 1:46:39 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “I have a German Shorthair Pointer bitch who looks like a birch tree....” 6:19:25 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “It's something unique and not just ripped off from Tolkien. "Radaghast the brown, Radaghast the Fool".(It's one of my favorite bits, I nearly wet myself when it popped up as a trail name). BUT My favorite walk is through a spagnum bog in an Alpine region not far from where I live.” 6:53:27 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “BUT HE IS THE FUNNIEST ON THIS SITE!!!!!!” 6:54:55 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “A Bunyip inhabits Swamps and Billabongs (Ponds). No really I like Rads comments, seriously, I'm a Rad fan.” 7:01:51 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Hmmmmm... The best trail names are ones you might give a dog. I knew a dog with three legs named tripod. I carry a huge bogen tripod that weighs more than my 3-person tent 'cuz I can't afford a carbon fiber gitzo. Without my skivvies on I look like I have three... oh, never mind. But tripod sounds good. I like it. What do you guys think?” 8:37:06 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “GO TRIPOD!!!!!!!!” 8:41:15 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Its okey dokey with me, Bob. If for some reason it's taken, add a second word, like "Go Tripod"” 8:44:58 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “I like it!” 8:46:46 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Ruffian: My team mates branded me with it as a result of a not-so-gentle encounter during a door kicking mission when I was active duty Special Forces. (Hey..it was real world stuff and the option was a full auto burst in a VERY crowded room). As for now-a-days it still fits my personality (or so I'm told..OFTEN).” 8:57:42 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “ "Woman," he said, "choose; the wigwam or the knife of le Subtil!"” 9:01:56 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Is anyone else afraid of Le Subtil now?” 9:03:41 AM 11/08/01 RE: Trail names “Most everyone on TT scares me for one reason or another... Just tryin' on the new name for size. Where's a mirror?” 9:11:44 AM 11/08/01
