Cup
Has anyone tried the TI cup? Found my 2 oz plastic thremal cup shattered from last weekend (I dropped the bear canister from the back of the truck).

Just went to REI and the other mugs were HEAVY.

RE: Cup
I haven't tried one yet, but I usually just use one of those plastic measuring cups. If they do break they don't cost much and they serve a double purpose.

RE: Cup
No, I like to use one of those medium sized insulated mugs.

I have mine marked on the inside for 1, 2, and 3 cups. That way I can measure the water for my meals easily. I also use for soups and oatmeals. And I when I make an evening cocktail, I pack with snow and pour the bourbon over the top of the snow for a bourbon slushy.

RE: Cup
I have never found it necessary to wear a cup on the trail.

RE: Cup
Man, those Ti cups would burn the piss outta your lips. I can tell that without even using one. Get the knockoff REI thermal cup with a lid and be done with it. Light enough, insulated and durable.

RE: Cup
Thermal mug from the dollar store for ...you guess it a dollar. Saw the bottom of the handle away from the cup so it "clips" on the outside of your pack.

RE: Cup
HPM: I was thinking something similar.. but when I saw it was a REAL thread.. I refrained.. cos I originally thought it was a thinly veiled attempt at asking cup size.

RE: Cup
I have the MSR Ti cup. It was a gift. It replaced my 8 oz insulated aladdin cup. It's like 1.1 oz or something. I like it a lot, and I don't burn my lips (but you should be careful). I put the top of an old sock around it to insulate a little but it stays warm longer (conducts less) than I thought it would.

RE: Cup
Humanpackmule, I thought one of the gals were talking about bra sizes or "support".
I don't carry a thermal cup....I have a 1 litre thermos bottle.

RE: Cup
I use this old thermal Michigan mug that is cracked, melted on one side and all the writting is rubbed off.

I have seen the new Nalgene mug/bottle on the web but havn't handled one yet. If it weighs about the same I may pick one up.

Ooooh! I've been out of the loop for awhile. A new Nalgene mug/bottle? I'll have to check that out. I think I need to do a little gear window-shopping.

hmmm... better get a glass of dry wine to keep the drooling to a minimum. ;o)
