Lakes Trail Photos “Just uploaded some photos of a recent hike in Sequoia National Park, CA. The photos were taken with my new Fuji 2600Zoom digital camera. Lakes Trail Photos ” 5:01:47 AM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Nice shots! Haven't done much hiking on the western side. (I get lost on that side - Last time I tried it took me 12 hrs to get there instead of 5) Looks like the eastern Sierras!” 5:41:58 AM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Nice Photos!” 6:54:24 AM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “I can smell the pines just looking at the pictures” 3:32:55 PM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Nice pictures! I can also appreciate how you slipped the new gear pic in. ;-)” 3:38:20 PM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “I love new gear! It was really beautiful in the Sierras Saturday ... cold and brisk in the shade ( with ice and snow ) and warm and toasty in the sunshine. Today however was not fit for man nor beast! The wind was howling here in the valley and it rained really hard. I can only imagine how rough it was in the Sierra high country today. I'm glad I was down here when that storm hit.” 11:52:24 PM 11/12/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Are you preempting an effort to get you into the Desolation hike next weekend? *grin*” 12:05:48 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Hmmm ...is there an effort to get me into the Desolation Hike??? I really only own one piece of 4 season gear and that's my 5 degree sleeping bag... everything else is 3 season. I have camped on snow in fair weather but never in stormy conditions whre you could wake up with a foot of snow on your tent ;)” 12:30:25 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “WW, You can borrow my Walrus Rapeede. Its a 6 lb, 4 season tent. ;)” 12:44:42 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Wind Walker, really nice pics. Heather lake was beautiful, and yes, I saw the fish, lol. I love dogwoods. I'm buying one in the spring for the house I just bought. Were the dogwoods at a high elevation?” 1:04:54 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Yes, there is. All you have to do is get a permit (no quota this time of year) and show up at the Sugar Pines CG on the west shore Friday night. Piece of cake. Whatdya say?” 1:12:16 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Rockbuck...Because I took today off to watch my kids march in the Vetrans Parade, I will have to work Saturday to make it up. But...Thanks for the offer!!! I would take a rain check for a latter trip...maybe the 'Frozen Fanny Tour'in February. Lipstick hiker , the dogwoods are at the same elevations as the redwoods 5,000 to 6,000 feet or so. That one was next to the road on the way to the trailhead. Thanks SnowNymph!” 1:27:24 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “Wind Walker, I've never seen dogwoods at that elevation here in WA, only in people's yards. I do see Rhododendruns at a high elevation. If this wasn't the Evergreen State, it would be called the Rhododendrun State. Everybody has them. The house I just bought has 6 of them.” 1:34:52 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “I was out this weekend too, but on the eastern side. Here's a photoessay: Red Lakes Dayhike and Kearsarge Mines Dayhike” 2:40:53 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “OK WW, that's a good one, but we've got you down for the February Frozen Fanny Trip. ;-))” 11:46:07 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “OK WW, that's a good one, but we've got you down for the February Frozen Fanny Trip, OK?. ;-))” 11:46:24 AM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “OK” 9:33:16 PM 11/13/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “yo-yo defense. (you'll get it)” 2:45:14 PM 11/16/01 RE: Lakes Trail Photos “yo-yo defense.
