“Yojimbo is great...Seven Samurai might even be greater. Caught a little bit of an IFC doc on Kurosawa, and somebody like Scorsese was saying Kurosawa didn't make just one or two masterpieces--he had 8 or 10. From what I've seen (Sanjuro, Kagemusha, Ran, SS, & Yojimbo) that sounds about right.

I did love Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, and quite a few others (Akahige/Red Beard about a doctor in feudal Japan is another one of my favorites). Magnificent Seven, is a great Western based on Seven Samurai.

I keep changing my mind about what American movies are my favorites: Wizard of OZ, 39 Steps, Cabaret, Catch 22 are movies I'd like to rent and see again in the near future.
