RE: Favorite movie
Yojimbo is great...Seven Samurai might even be greater. Caught a little bit of an IFC doc on Kurosawa, and somebody like Scorsese was saying Kurosawa didn't make just one or two masterpieces--he had 8 or 10. From what I've seen (Sanjuro, Kagemusha, Ran, SS, & Yojimbo) that sounds about right.

Other favorites:
Touch of Evil
Aguirre, the Wrath of God
Repo Man
The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels, Hail the Conquering Hero

RE: Favorite movie
BB: I teach psychology. Mostly I teach clinical and developmental topics.

I did love Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, and quite a few others (Akahige/Red Beard about a doctor in feudal Japan is another one of my favorites). Magnificent Seven, is a great Western based on Seven Samurai.

I keep changing my mind about what American movies are my favorites: Wizard of OZ, 39 Steps, Cabaret, Catch 22 are movies I'd like to rent and see again in the near future.

Relatively recent favorites... mebbe South Park and The Matrix?

one movie i really, really wish i hadnt seen is requiem of (for?) a dream. the last 10 minutes of that made me want to call my mommy and start crying, and give up all kinds of intoxicating substances for good. i seem to have gotten over it, but it was still rough.
