Coastal Hikes in California?

“Anyone know of any Central California coastal hikes? I've always wanted to hike near the coast, but don't know of any trails.”

“Is Big Sur central? When I visited, I did the Ewoldsen trail. It's not exactly on the water. It's on the otherside of the hwy, but the view from on top of the coast is spectacular.

There is also Andrew Molera State Park, and Los Padres if I have the name right. It's on the coast. I have my CA hiking book packed away right now.”

“Point Reyes has a lot of trails that get you near the ocean. Its very accesible all year long and miles of beach to walk. We need to do a No. Cal get together at Pt. Reyes I think. Obi and Lipstick went there last Spring I think.”

“Pt Reyes isn't really central, but if I were picking one spot, that would be it. There are a few hike-in campgrounds, only catch is you must get permits far in advance due to their limited #. Great spot.”

“I shouldn't be telling you this but the Lost Coast is the best coastal hike in Ca I have found. This time of the year, however, the weather can be rough. They generally get 100+" of rain per annum.”

“I'm currently trying to work out a trip to Pt. Reyes (Wildcat Camp) but backcountry camp reservations are still filling up on weekends. Also heading up north over New Year's for the Lost Coast.”

“There is also TP wherever you look. Gross. Other than that, it is one of my favorite places to hike.”

“Lost Coast, but it hasn't been lost for quite sometime now. If you do it, start from the north and head south or you'll be fighting the wind.
