“Dood, try to make one of Michigan Hikers and Ohio freinds trips. Where do you reside in Indy?”

“Try the Knobstone Trail in Southern IN for a good challenge. Don't underestimate this trail just because its in IN.”

“Every Spring me and my roomate go to Pokagon state park and hike every trail, and road there. It isnt a challenge at all, but it is a safe and fun way to enjoy backpacking when you dont have winter gear.”

“Oh yeah and you should come on a michigan hike, we would love to have you. We will even change the name of our group to the Michigan Mountaineers and Ohio and Indianna friends, if you want to feel included.”

“DM I'm not that far away. You can come hikin' down here in Southern Illinois.”

“Are you near Indianapolis? There's a nice place just over the border, near Danville, IL, I think it is Kickapoo State Park. Haven't been there in a few years, but used to go there a lot when I lived in Champaign.”

“I live in Noblesville which is just north of Indy, but right now I'm in West Lafayette which is about half way to chicago. Let me know when you are doing one of your Michigan hikes and if I have a car, I'll head out your way!”

“December 7,8,9. Staying at a cabin and hiking on the 8th near Grayling. More of a party with a hike attached. You're more than welcome! If you can make it up to metro Detroit you can catch a ride with someone so you don't have to drive all the way. It'll be an oppertunity to meet the whole bunch minus laqtis.”

“I might just be able to do that since that is the week of dead week. Just keep feeding me details and I'll work it in (presuming my car is fixed).”

“DUDE! The Knobstone rocks! It's about as rough as anything I've hiked on. When they get the expantion done that baby will go from just north of Louisville all the way to just south of Indinapolis. I'd like to try and get time off next summer to hike the whole thing if I can find someone to maybe swap keys half way or just give me a ride back to my car. It'd be even nicer if there was some frickin' water around.

Have you ever done the Shades just west of Indi?”

“I've been on the Knobstone, and yes it is a very nice trail. I've hiked Shades and Turkey Run SP almost to death.”

Keep me in mind for the key swap if you really plan on the Knobstone trip next summer . . . its definitely on my list . . . and I can be rlatively flexible with enough notice. e-mail is the most reliable way to contact me.”

“I’m beginning to see why you guys hate Indi hiking. I had planned on doing a trip to the Shades this weekend only to find that the Indiana State Parks shut everything down til April! WTF!?

Can anyone tell me how the water availability is on the Knob this time of year? Any great sections you can suggest?”

“Nigal, I don't know about Shades, but I was just in Turkey Run over MLK day and it was open. There weren't a heck of a lot of staff there, but there was no enterance fee.”

“Oh it's open but the hike in camp is closed.”

“There are lots of cool places to go backpacking in Ind.

(2)Clark state forest.
(3)Harrison crawford state forest.
(4)Charles Deam Wilderness.

There are a few more.I have been backpacking in the midwest for 11 years and I think it's great.The KT will kick your butt if you have never been on it before.I have Backpacked it 5 times and soon it is going to be over 140 miles long.I can't wait.”
