You know you are home when..
You know you are home when..

1) there is more bar-b-que and hot food in the local convenience store and gas station than beer in the cooler box.

2) when they have an INSIDE bathroom at the convenience store and gas station... and not some block building cathole.

I know I'm home by the warmth & security of my apt. Also by the smell of recently cooked beef stew. When I carmalize the onions, it permeates everything in the apt.

Watching football is actually something to do, and the couch has my butt crease in it.

Wake up in the morning and the dog's nose is almost touching yours and he's staring you down with those brown eyes.

When I pull off and crawl under the canopy, roll out the sleepin bag, Next I get out and look at all the really nice homes in the neighborhood (some of them even got eighteen wheels on em). I walk over and wonder what all these people are doin in MY bathroom. Crawl into bed and hang my clothes up for curtains. Curse the noisy neighbor kids all night. I tell ya sometimes it feels like I'VE been run over by a tractor/trailer in the night. Jump outa bed and run for the shower, sh_t, what are all these people doin in MY kitchen, run back to the truck sayin sorry to all the little ladies for scarin the kids for life and tell them that I will put some clothes on if they quit hittin me with things. Walk in and share MY bathroom with half of the worlds a$$holes all at once. The coffee lady is late again. How am I suppose to start MY day when the free coffee is late. Head off to work spillin hot coffee on MY lap and nearly get side swiped by the neighbor leavin for work. The idiot waves his one remainin finger at Me. You would think that the world revolved around him or somethin.
I am right at home!

RE: You know you are home when..
when my neck and shoulders hurt from sitting at the computer all night!

I work on a computer all day, and my sitting posture is bad. After 30 days on the trail, my chiropractor was surprised that I was so easy to work on. A month later, she had to work to get all the knots out!

Yeah, the computer is bad for your back and shoulders and backpacking is good for your back and shoulders. That's what I've found too.

Wow, that's interesting. I just found the same relationship between work and neck pain. I sit in front of a computer for 10 hours a day. For the last 6 months I've been seeing a chiro for the neck pain.
I went on a 9-day bp'ing trip and the pain disappeared after 2 days.
Now, of course, it's back. Maybe my Dr can put me on disability and prescribe backpacking?

The things I learn here....

Woods and ridges are good therapy, let us know if it works I'll try it. Clears the brain so you can do more efficient work if you return. I'm home when I round the bend and see the flag pole on the hill below the house and the goldens playing in the yard. snif..gets me

RE: You know you are home when..
You have aches and pains.

My cardiologist ordered me to go mtn. backpacking (bp) this year! My medical records show the excellent results from my trips, in weight loss, physical condition and in blood tests. Once the cholesterol count dropped from 218 to 162 in 19 days. On cures, an arm ached for six months so badly that I could not sleep on that side. Two weeks of bp cured it completely. A backache disappeared in two days.
