Bomb shelter
I talked to a guy yesterday who builds and sells bomb shelters. I thought this craze had gone out with the cold war but his business is booming. They cost about $17,000. Anyone here have one or feel the need?

It's only a matter of a few years before the US will be nuked by terrorists. My guess...2009. Target...New York, LA, or D.C.

RE: Bomb shelter
You may be right, spock.. but the way i look at it.. there won't be warming time to get me and the family into a bomb shelter.. I don't own a tornado shelter either.

RE: Bomb shelter
But a good bomb shelter should be designed to protect you and your family from the radioactive fallout and gangs of hungry mauraders.

I've always wanted a bomb shelter. I thought they would always come in handy for tornados, fires, toxic spills, hiding the body of an annoying post er...

RE: Bomb shelter
That won't happen where I live.. we don't have crime.. we don't have anything.. but good folks.. there will not be any fallout.. cos the bomb won't hit close.. and there won't be any hungry marauders.. I am a country boy by choice.

I live about 15 miles from NYC and about 200 miles from DC. If it's going to happen, take me and mine quickly. I don't fear the hereafter.

Oh Town Dawg I wish you were right! I agree about the people here in the Tennessee 100%,but with our geographic location,The TVA dam network,Watts Bar & Oak Ridge & AEDC-
We are higher on the list than on might believe-
You can paddle a canoe right up to the base of the dam at Center Hill-
I can't worry about it though-Fate will take care of us-
Backpackers will be the last ones left though-we have gear & skills.

RE: Bomb shelter
Media, my father, uncle, and grandfather combined finances and time and now that side of my fam. has one. It is in a secret (even from me) way out in the boondocks loaction. My father says if anything real major goes down, pack some essentials and head to his house; from there he'll take us to it. He has spent the last 6 or 7 yrs. stocking the thing. I say screw that idea. Like I want to be in some bomb shelter w/ my paranoid patriarchs and fat cousins. I agree 100% w/ roseymonster. Why would you want to survive?

RE: Bomb shelter
A bomb shelter is useless to me.
I can't put one on the ground or it will fill with water and become a pool.

Hmmmm...... that might work.

I live less than three miles froma Navy base that will get hit and I'll be vaporized along with it.
