No one has nominated Oklahoma yet. Does it have any redeeming features? I agree that North Dakota is exceptionally boring. Iowa, however, is really pretty, you just have to know where to look.

I did time in New Jersey, and it's got my vote. They say it has the densest population; I'll vouch for that. ;-)

Wide open expanses just scare most people. We can always tell who the "mountain and forest" folks are. They spend a lot of time inside the house and are a little spooked by the weather.

I vote that all states have ugly parts they call them cities and every state has an ugly one.

Ohio is actually pretty nice. More shoreline than Georgia. Appalachian foothills. Big, broad rivers. I also like the fact that it is so culturally diverse. You have the twang-talking southerners near Cincinnati, wanna-be easterners near Pennsylvania, Hockey-loving, Canada-is-only-30-minutes-away Northerners in Toledo and the great Midwestern farm people on the west side. Definitely a crossroads state.

Ugly States
Every state has something to offer, it all depends on the perspective of the one assessing it.

Chuck, I agree with you about the Houston ship channel. Texas has desert, buttes, piney woods, grasslands and mountains. Yes, mountains, for your narrowminded folks that don't know better!!

Guadalupe Peak is 8700 ft high, then there's Big Bend in the southwest corner of the state, the Rita Grasslands up in the handle, and all of the Nat'l forests in the Piney woods. Oh, what about South Padre Island and the beaches too??

Texas is a wonderful state to live in, hotter than blazes during July and August, but oh well, it sure beats shoveling snow and driving on ice. ;-)

I agree with each state having a place or two or more of beauty.

I'd have to say Oregon is pretty ulgy with their "Out of stater go home" attitude.

I kind of like that in a state. But then I am influenced by the relentless abuse my area recieves fron the NY'er and Jersites almost every weekend.

To be trite, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

When I moved to an area with mountains, I immediatly fell in love with them. When my relatives have come to visit me, they hate them and can't wait to get back to a place with an open unimpeded horizon.
