We need a calendar - Matt?

“There are lots of confirmed and "in the works" tentative trips floating around this site. It would be great to have an activity calendar we could click on for quick reference as to what may be going on in our area. Example: I keep looking at the Montana trip, but have to scroll thru 3 or 4 pages to find what the tentative dates are. 2nd example, we have a Frozen Fanny TT trip scheduled for Feb in the Northern Sierra's, but if you haven't been following certain threads you wouldn't know about it.

Great attraction to new TT'r as well as established posters.

Then again, it would be nice to be able to have one on trailtalk. It would be less work for Phil and easier for TT users, especially if the entries could be changed by the entering individual.

I know that several Outdoor Clubs have a calendar feature...whoever is planning the trip can post & modify as required.”

Maybe the problem is that not everyone knows to update Phil...

It'd be hard to log every upcomming trip TT has going if everybody doesn't let the Calendar keeper know about it. Then next it would be nice if matt could make a link on TT so everybody could check it out. Not everybody knows it's on Phil's Page now.”

“There is another calendar linked to my calendar page, but I have had a difficult time making the link work.

My policy with the calendar page has been to only add outings if requested to specifically by email. My reasoning is that it I am not sure everyone wants their trip announced there. Besides, I cannot keep up with all the threads.

If people want to email me the information, I will continue to maintain the page. If someone wants to start and maintain a trips page, I won't be offended and would be happy to link to it.

I'll be there is a way of doing something with the threads that would make it easy to track upcoming trips. Someone will have some ideas.”

“If you have a Hotmail or Passport account thru MSN, you can add your own dates to the calendar I threw together a while ago. When the idea was first brought up, I created a calendar page here but it never got used. This way, users can add/remove their own trips.
