L ron hubbard said it best :" if you want to be a millionare, start your own religion.." ok people here's your chance,go for it..you can do like islam and rip off every faith on the planet ,or you can be as completely original as whatever enlightenment posesses you..ihis a no-holds-barred thread within the limits of good taste..

RE: design a religion
I would start a religion of the woods and nature, unfortunately I have a job and a life, they keep me to busy to start a religion.

RE: design a religion
I'll answer this one even with the originator's disrespectfull and ignorant tone towards Islam...IHMO, good taste went out the window with the first post.

It's hard to be original when you're trying to promote good virtues, promote faith, and to live sin free. You'll find most religion's virtues and sins are basically the same by necessity.

RE: design a religion
Islam ripped off every faith on the planet? If so, then it is not alone in that.

All cultures borrow from all other cultures they come in contact with.

RE: design a religion
"SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- There will be a lot of advertising and brand
merchandising at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City this February.
However, one ad may not be seen because it strikes particularly close to
home for Utah's founding fathers.

Reagan Outdoor Advertising, a local billboard company, has decided not to
rent space to Wasatch Beers to promote its Polygamy Porter, whose label
pictures a man with several women and boldly declares 'Why have just one!'
The billboard ad for the microbrew suggested that consumers 'Take some home
for the wives.'

Greg Schirf, owner of Park City-based Watsatch Beers and Brew Pub, has
always relied on abrasive tags, having previously touted his products in the
largely populated Mormon state as 'Utah's other local religion' while
advising drinkers to 'Baptize your taste buds.'"

"Lisa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else - and it hasn't - it's that girls should stick to girls sports, such as
hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing and such and such."

"Stealing! How could you? Haven't you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church?
Captain whats-his-name?"

"and very little left for the one true faith (you guess which it is)"

If there is but one true faith how have you lost respect for it and why would you make us guess as to which faith is the one true faith? I am very interested in other's faiths and what they believe. By all means, share.

Not enough designing or imagination going on in this thread. How about this?
A religion that passes through the stages of Magic, Myth, and belief systems, requires all participants to experience ritualistic behaviours, master several meditation techniques, and employ psychology to aid in deep self-observation and self-understanding until the need for religion has been outgrown.
Ultimately, conscousness, (deep feeling-awareness), would be expericned as the basis of reality itself.

Buddur, the new TT only shows posts to threads for the number of days you have set up. My guess is you are at the one day default.

Here is a commandment for the all new TT religion.

Thou shall not crap within 200 feet of the water nor shall you leave it unburied.

Thou shall respect thine fellow hiker and enjoy the silence of a morns sunrise over a half frozen lake.

Thou shall not leave garbage and food around the campsite to attract the bears.

Thou shall not remove the safety latch of the pepper spray nor discharge the spray in thine tent.

i assume you mean until the need for ORGANIZED religion has been outgrown, Dunadan? IMHO, whether or not we think we need religion, religion needs us. i design my religion as i live my life...otherwise, i'd be "dead." or better-put, i incorporate my experiences into my world-view. sometimes what you think you want to be your religion does not turn out to be the best thing for you. sometimes you have to assimilate yourself to a design.

wow, serious talk for a Monday morning! :-)

"The essence of all religions is love, compassion, & tolerance. Kindness is my true religion. The clear proof of a person's love of God is if that person genuinely shows love to fellow
human beings." -- the XIV Dalai Lama

Well, not to get "semantical", but I do not use the word "religion" for "spirituality". Religion involves repeated and ritualistic behavior, which is not a negative necessarily, but can be outgrown.
I am talking about a stark and complete realization that supercedes religion. Bliss is a by-product of this realization.
Get it?
