“Ours was great! Too much of everything and into a coma for the evening. And we spoiled the dog with giblets and dinner rolls. So how was yours?” 10:36:46 AM 11/23/01 “well Mom still recognized me - sort of - she did ask my sister as she was going back to assisted living place when I went bald - it was about 30 years ago (sigh) - she also asked my nephew (who does have a full head of hair) about whether he had heard from his daughter - he has never married or fathered children - she was probably thinking that he was me (double sigh) - other than that mildly depressing thing Thanksgiving was OK - got "stuffed" in tha American sense of the word (grin)” 5:10:58 PM 11/23/01 “i had an eventful one. i went to NYC with my friend, and we did so much stuff that we slept for like 10 hours the whole 4 days. we went shopping on 5th Ave., and i got to see lots of sights...i've only been there once before. we got close enough to Ground Zero to see the wreckage. it was absolutely horrible...before, it never seemed entirely real to me. the day was overcast, and we could see bulldozers working...for some reason, the machines themselves looked devastated, like they were so sad that they could barely make themselves move. there was still smoke rising, and you could smell it burning. it was the saddest thing i've ever seen, and i cried my eyes out. i had a lot to be thankful for...i'm so glad no one i know was hurt!” 9:18:18 AM 11/26/01 “Drove for six hours in the pouring rain at night. Spent four days eating like food was going to be scarce. Helped my father in law work on his antique car, it is going to be a street rod when he is done. Drove back in the snow for six hours, but at least it wasn't dark. I also got some new tires and wiper blades for the car. Yahoo. Had a great time with the family.” 9:28:46 AM 11/26/01 “Food, Family, Rest. Saw Harry Potter. Watched college football. Drove to Nashville and watched the Titans get beat by the Steelers, but the tailgate party was great. Talked to son about his interview with Law School and talked to daughter about not giving into sexual temptations. Drove out in the country and cut down a Christmas tree. Put out all the yard decorations, and climbed up on the roof to put up lights. Started packing for the backpack trip this weekend. Even slept till 9am one morning. Drank some nice wine, smoked a few cigars, and remembered what other life there is besides work. It was great. (And yes, here I am again, Monday morning, getting all my engineering projects done.)” 9:40:09 AM 11/26/01 “oh yeah, i saw *Harry Potter* too! it was just how i'd imagined it when i read the book.” 9:43:21 AM 11/26/01 “We saw Harry Potter too. They did an excellent job with the casting.” 9:45:31 AM 11/26/01 “heh.. we might have to start a separate thread for harry potter.” 9:47:52 AM 11/26/01 “I took my 11 and 7 year old to see Harry Potter. I enjoyed it as much as they did.” 9:50:32 AM 11/26/01 “Skipped out on work and school a day early, so I could drive for 4 hrs. to other side of state and be w/ other side of fam. Went out w/ cousins and got drunk. Burst w/ pride over everyone bubbling about my gorgeous angel of a daughter. Spent all day Thurs. helping to prepare dinner for 45 people. We had to rent a hall. Drank alot of wine and watched my child's grandmother get sauced. Hilarious. Slept. Was forced to watch tons of football. Slept. Ate left-overs. Gave daughter a bath 3 times Sat. Grandma let her feed herself pumpkin pie, followed by brownies, followed by PB&J sand. (She actucally rubbed the PB in her hair, looked at me and said, "Bath?") Drove home in snowstorm yesterday. It was wonderful.” 10:43:05 AM 11/26/01
