“HEY NEKKID, how ya doin? I like the MSR Denali's over my Tubbs shoes, but that's personal preference. They've recieved mostly a lot of good, press, some bad of course. They were BP "shoes of the year" or some such thing a couple years back, I don't now anyone who's #&%!$ed about them. I'd most definitely buy them again.

“The Atlas 1033's support the combined weight of me and my Winter pack (about 210 lbs).

And I've seen more Atlas on the trail compared to Tubbs or MSR. Redfeather also seems to be a favorite among dayhikers.”

“At the suggestion of wise Pathman, I needs to inquire about snoeshoe hiking here, rather than the last thread I tried. So with no further ado: Can I reasonably assume that I can backpack the Tahoe Rim Trail if I have to snoeshoe most/or all of the way?? I have 2 weeks, and the trail is 150 miles long. I plan to hike it in May, so altho the days are not as long as summer days, they are dang shore longer than now. I will be OK fitwise by then, and have practiced with snoeshoes some by then too, altho admittedly prolly not very much. So lay it one me folks! And fer sure, thanx.”

“I think if I were doing a snowshoe trip, the mileage per day would be considerably less (not used to walking like I have a load in my pants). But you're an animal and could probably do it. The most I've done with snowshoes is 3 days carrying 35 lbs. mtnsteve is the expert on snow travel. He's leaving on a 10 day trip tomorrow, so bring this thread up after the 25th.”
