February Frozen fanny trekView Messages“NA, How ya doin? I don't believe there's any parallel between temp & altitude sickness. Just seems to strike whenever it does. Have heard there's some correlation between rapid ascent & immediate strenuous activity, but not sure. For the most part I wouldn't worry about it, usually only hits above 8,000' min I believe.” 10:52:04 AM 12/29/01 “Nekid...they say Viagra helps prevent altitude sickness...LOL!” 2:08:37 AM 1/02/02 “Now I dunno bout no sickness, but it shore DOES cause altitude! Wanderer didn't you say for me keep on the lookout for the MSR Denali's?? From the looks of'em I'll want the Ascent model eh? And which batwing should I get, the 4" or 8"? Norther Mtn Supply has'em for $159.” 6:42:25 AM 1/02/02 hmmmmmmm “Uh WW, you are joking eh?” 6:43:21 AM 1/02/02 “Anybody bringing cramps?” 6:45:33 AM 1/02/02 “I'd be surprised if you needed them (beyond your snoshoe crampons) but wanderer has been back there in the winter and will know better. We should be getting his or SN's Lassen trip report today...hopefully!” 8:18:43 AM 1/02/02 “HEY NEKKID, how ya doin? I like the MSR Denali's over my Tubbs shoes, but that's personal preference. They've recieved mostly a lot of good, press, some bad of course. They were BP "shoes of the year" or some such thing a couple years back, I don't now anyone who's #&%!$ed about them. I'd most definitely buy them again. Can't help you on the whole Viagra question, you're on your own there brother!” 9:42:59 PM 1/03/02 “Everyone on the Lassen trip had the MSR Denali's. We have Atlas 1022 & 1025” 11:12:01 PM 1/03/02 OH NO!!! “Looks like I need to bail out for this trip due to a scheduling conflict with my scout troop...” 4:00:05 PM 1/12/02 “Hey Snow, them Atlas 1025's of your beau? That hold himself and a 50ish lb pack?” 4:37:57 AM 1/13/02 “Hey W, I thought WE were your scout troop? Can't we all go?” 10:22:06 AM 1/13/02 “Naked, No, that's why he got the bigger ones. His pack was only 40 lbs and he was postholing. I stayed on top of the snow with my 35 lb pack.” 12:42:38 AM 1/14/02 “The Atlas 1033's support the combined weight of me and my Winter pack (about 210 lbs). And I've seen more Atlas on the trail compared to Tubbs or MSR. Redfeather also seems to be a favorite among dayhikers.” 12:57:47 AM 1/14/02 “Doh! I just realized Wanderer was our leader for this trip! Now what are we going to do? Wanderer, can we change the date?” 2:52:18 AM 1/14/02 “So what y'all are saying to me is that I need to keep my eyes peeled for some MSR Denali Ascents, and some Atlas 1033s huh? Like, I'm totally schemin' on used yaknow, awesome!” 1:41:18 AM 1/15/02 “At the suggestion of wise Pathman, I needs to inquire about snoeshoe hiking here, rather than the last thread I tried. So with no further ado: Can I reasonably assume that I can backpack the Tahoe Rim Trail if I have to snoeshoe most/or all of the way?? I have 2 weeks, and the trail is 150 miles long. I plan to hike it in May, so altho the days are not as long as summer days, they are dang shore longer than now. I will be OK fitwise by then, and have practiced with snoeshoes some by then too, altho admittedly prolly not very much. So lay it one me folks! And fer sure, thanx.” 2:02:46 AM 1/15/02 hehe “...and lay it on me too, while you're at it....” 2:04:30 AM 1/15/02 “...oh dearest Creator of All, Father of the most Holy Spook, please don't let me sound like poopinfresh (tear).....” 2:09:40 AM 1/15/02 “ROFLMAO!” 2:19:51 AM 1/15/02 “I think if I were doing a snowshoe trip, the mileage per day would be considerably less (not used to walking like I have a load in my pants). But you're an animal and could probably do it. The most I've done with snowshoes is 3 days carrying 35 lbs. mtnsteve is the expert on snow travel. He's leaving on a 10 day trip tomorrow, so bring this thread up after the 25th.” 2:33:41 AM 1/15/02 “Harharhehehe, ty Snow, :X ! Sweet, I'll be on the lookout for mtnsteve then. The 25th huh? Now on that particular day I'll be tannin' on da beach in Oahu don'tchaknow?? So when I gits my beautifully bronzed carcass back to not-so-sunny CA, ole mtnsteve'll be hearing from me.” 2:47:52 AM 1/15/02
