Maaaaaaaaaat!

It's TOO YUPPIE!

Give us some color back.
Ditch the icons.

Even Big Foot is disturbed.

And he's laid back!

Moi?

I AM HYPERVENTILATING!!!

It looks like a site for "special people". Apparently we need symbols to guide us because we can't read.

I agree that maybe some shading to soften the white would be good, but overall I like the new look.

I think that we should go back to the color choice thing again.
Thats what I liked about the site, we could personalize it to our own liking.
This just seems way to impersonnel.

But I like the new look!!

I liked the old woodsy green background. This snow white background is just too blinding. A color choice feature would be very welcome -- with the old green shades an option.

I like the icons, but color choices would be nice.

Matt, thanks for all the great work and I promise to be patient as you continue to exercise your creative genius and let the new look EVOLVE. :-)

Come on folks, fashion and design doesn't HAPPEN, it EVOLVES..roflmbo!!

It`s a good thing I don`t get a vote
it`s just my opinion so, here`s a note
now there`s one button at the bottom and it says submit
where`d that other thingie go, why did you get rid of it
I don`t like it much at all in here, it`s way to bright
was it up to me it`d be green and you can stick the white

My neighbors are complaining Matt, they don`t like the light
it`s cause now the glow from my computer lights up the night
it`s like you`re going through the change and taking us too
oh Matt,.. the neighbors wanted to beat me up, but I told them how to find YOU

Matt don't listen to them, the site looks great, its the featers that are my problem. But you said your working on them so its all good.

Maybe the color change thing to personalize it would be nice, but then you may just be spoiling them. Heck I can only think of a few websites where one could select the color of it.

I think that what makes this web page far and above the best one out there is the fact that WE(the user)can make our own decisions. If we don't like the look we change the color schemes.
The content and design are awesome!! KUDOS Matt!!

Do all of you complain to other sites where you do not like the layout of the icons, the colors, the logo, etc.? I think people just don't like change...it's human nature.

It's like complaining about something you read or something you heard on the radio. You always have a choice...put down your reading material, turn the radio off or don't visit the page you don't like the color of if you feel that strongly about it.

I, for one, am very thankful for Matt's site and all the hard work he does. BUT, it is his site and he can do what he pleases with it. Until you're paying for it, you really do not have that big a voice.

Matt, thanks for listening to the "suggestions" offered by so many, myself included.

~~~the thirst that exists when the well is full is a thirst unquenchable~~~.(i think Gibran said that..., somebody did..i forget)
to me, it is a miracle that we can even do any of this in the first place....i guess that is because i am old.....and learning a new way and adapting keeps the cobwebs from forming........good going Matt..........I think it is pretty dang neat looking...
and i never noticed the "articles" section until this change...i have enjoyed reading them...(specially your contributions)...so, my thebackpacker.com experience has reached a higher level of enjoyment already.
OH yeah, for a housewife like me, gittin into the great outdoors is too few and far in between, so that nifty woodsy color I got to see ever day does the trick. This white background puts ya into the category of "everybody else". This place is special .... I'd suggest ya keep it that way.
Bigger font would be nice, I will admit I miss the color background options. It would be nice if when one person "clicks" onto a long thread it would take them towards the end as opposed to starting at 1 of 4 or more. With the option to see 1 thru 3 once making it to 4 first. Or the last/most recent 20 or so messages to that thread.
Just a thought.....
White is great for me. That way, folks who wander into my office can't tell I am goofing off just by looking at the reflection in my window!!!!!!!!
NOw it just reflects white with lettering, like any other document or page. Instead of green/brown . . . clearly not work related.
What's up with the 'Last Posters' box? Some of the times and thread titles are white. Some are black. Can't make out the white ones very well. Is it just me getting that? ...Hodgeman of BC
GS is correct that this site is for special people. This white background fits in perfectly with the white trash using it. All it needs now is some yellow "pee" stains.
White trash drinks beer and is damn proud of it. Owns a gun and damn proud to wave it around. Owns a gas-guzzling truck/SUV and proud of it.
Violin - I think the problem with the normally black text in the last posters box coming out white is caused by the title of one of the threads changing the color to white and then NOT changing the color back to black - the title shows up in the last poster's box and all the normally black text following is set to white - to fix I would suggest adding code to set the color back to black after each title in the last poster's box - but what do I know I don't do html
BriarRabbit, there is nothing white trash about drinking beer, owning a gun, or owning an SUV. It is driving down the road in the SUV while drinking the beer and shooting off the gun at road signs that defines white trash.
HOI and Violin, it started doing that immediately after WindWalker forgot to close the font tag on a white font post. It wasn't doing it before that and it has done it ever since. I think Matt's the only one who can fix it.
Ever been in a long line at the bank and hear those words come from the little old lady at the tellers window?
Last night it would change back to black when posts were made to other threads...but as soon as there was a new post on the "White" thread they would all change back to white......weird
