I just caught a little piece in the paper, from the AP about a woman who was killed on Mt Washington a few days ago, about a 1/4 mile from the trailhead,, anyone else hear anything? I can't remember any serious crimes going on around here before.

I heard on the radio last Friday that it was a woman from Ontario. At that time they thought it was an accident and she died of exposure. I stand corrected.

This is really sad. I wonder if they will ever figure out the circumstances?

I hiked in to the bowl at Tuckerman Ravine Saturday, and picked up bits of conversations about a missing person. I didn't pay much attention, cause it seems like there's always somone missing or lost there. Then my mom told me a woman was murdered. It is a sad thing.

I had a coworker ask me if this was going to make me think twice about all of the hiking that I do solo. I'll admit when I head out to a remote area the thought of what happened to that woman might cross my mind but I can't imagine not going out because of some irrational fear. I figure my chances of getting offed in the city are far greater. Anyway, it's very sad nonetheless.
