Does anyone have the Sierra Designs Silver Lining Polarguard bag? -15 degrees. It's supposed to be somewhat stretchy to provide for an extra 3 inches of room. Any comments on this? I am asking for it for Xmas cause it's on sale at Campmor.

This is a 'hefty' bag - weighs over 5 lb.! Do you want this one for car camping?

Sierra Designs Black Out
The catalog says it's under 5lbs.

I just realized that I said I was looking at the Silver Lining...I'm actually looking at the Black Out - Same exact bag but for men. The women's Silver Lining (long) isn't tall enough. The men's regular is. It's weight is 4lb 14oz.

I was under the impression that negative 15 deg bags were usually a bit heavier. Is that not true?

Yes tarabull. That is true, especially with synthetics. Maybe you could find a -15 for a little lighter, but not much, esepcially with a synthetic. I think you could find a down bag at a lighter weight.

I have a down 15 degree SD bag that weighs in right at 3 lb. I would say if you are getting a cold weather bag, you most likely are going to be winter camping in freezing conditions. This is really where down excels because the air is so dry. Humid conditions are what can kill a down bag. There are, however, treatments for down that help it to repel water and dry out faster.

The stretch is a nice feature if you feel clausterphobic in a bag of like to wiggle around. I think all the SD down bags are continuous baffle contruction, meaning you can shift the down around to where you want it in the bag.
