First, I get a not-so-state of the art computer in 1997.

Then, a couple of months ago, we get this new fancy-schmancy McAfee anti virus crap. At the same time, they enacted the Bess filter.

Dude! This machine got even sluggisher then. In fact, I had to eliminate a number of sites that I sometimes visit because of the sluggishness. TT was spared, however.

And now. I come back from the holidays to find a new format at TT that put the last nail in the 'ol Axion TechLAN's coffin.

I have neither the time nor patience to sit through the new downloadathon. I have completed all of two posts today. I have to refresh the TT main page if I want up to the 30 minute information.

I couldn't imagine waiting for the 200+ post FL ECT Hike thread to download, not to mention some of the even longer ones.

I tried the trick mentioned in another thread, but it wouldn't take.

Keep me posted through email and telephone about ECT hikes, will ya?

No, I don't have a computer at home (I was recently given a microwave - my first!). I don't have a VCR, stereo, etc, either. I figure that the more you possess, the more you ARE possessed.

I usually bring my most prized possessions on my extended roadtrips - hiking and fishing gear.

It's cool to be away from home for weeks at a time and not worry about whether I even locked the doors or not.

It's possible to set up a PDA through ActiveSync (and AvantGo) where you can overnight saddle up your unit and pick up forum messages however many pages deep you want. I don't think you can post though, but I may be mistaken. It's all mostly text.”

2. Look at the top tabs and select advanced.

3. Scroll down to multimedia. Uncheck the box "Show Pictures".

If the images truly are the problem this will fix it.”

“If you are inside a company intranet going thru a firewall there is also a registry tweek that can fix your problem. My wife's computer had the same thing on my home net after I installed some firewall and protection stuff. I found a solution that has worked so well I started using it on computers at work with internet lag problems.”
