Pack Weight Reduction
Interstate backpacking is one way I have been thinking about to reduce my pack weight. Consider the following:

-No need for a tent - sleep under bridges - 5 lbs reduction

-No need to carry food, stove or fuel - stop at stores and restaurants - 12 lbs reduction for 5 day trip

-No need for water filter - 1 lbs reduction

-No need for rain gear - stay under the bridge till it stops raining - 2 lbs reduction

-No need for maps- just look at the ones at the rest stops

-No need for a first aid kit - if hurt or have blisters - thumb - 8 oz reduction

Total weight reduction - 20 lbs 8 oz

And hot showers are only a truckstop away!

Total reduction in pack weight -

And you can finance it by standing near an exit ramp with a "will work for food" sign! I like it.
