Well, you'll get to see how mine performs to help make up your mind. If I come out from under the tarp Saturday morning looking like a wet rat, you'll know to stay with the Coleman.

PS. I wound up adding a few more items(couldn't resist) and added almost a pound. Now that the temps are going to be higher I may leave the fleece sleeping bag liner and extra fleece pullover behind. That would drop another pound and a half.

I just emailed this to sandy and MDSHiker.

I believe I messed up on a road name. I mentioned turning onto Lawrence Cty Road 6. I just saw it on a map listed as Cty Road 60. My memory is 6. The best way to tell is that it's the first/last road in the county. Since sandy will be headed north on 33, it will be the first left after you cross from Winston County into Lawrence. For MDSHiker it will be the last road before Winston County. If you cross into Winston then you've gone too far. Sorry for the last minute clarification. Also, it's a 3 way intersection. You can only turn one way off of 33 onto this county road. There is a sign at the intersection that faces the county road. I beleive it's a big red wooden sign.

the road with many names...
dayhiker, that road is also known as Cranal Rd. I believe that if you are coming down 33 from Moulton, the sign you see is Lawrence Co. 6. But I have also seen it marked as 60 on maps. I believe there is a sign on 33 pointing the way to the Sipsey River Recreation area, which is off of 6/60/Cranal Rd.

I had no problems finding it the first time I was there.

Y'all have a good time. I'll be thinking about you. Enviously.

That's good to know. I was feeling a little panicked that I had forgotten a road #. Thanks for the correction. I left MDSHiker a voice mail, but figure sandy is already headed this way.
