Dubya said terrorists were about to attack a California bridge. Haha, just kidding people. Dubya: prepare for terrorists spreading smallpox. Oops, never happened. Dubya: now terrorists targeting natural gas and oil.” 9:04:29 PM 11/27/01 “wow. that horse is REALLY dead! and look at how beaten it is!” 10:06:43 PM 11/27/01 “I do wish Dubya would just come out and say, "Yeah, things are pretty screwed up. This Isn't normal... but whatever you do... keep spending! Okay folks?" What are the chances of *that* happening?” 10:33:00 PM 11/27/01 “Did anyone think maybe intel changes as this thing goes along? What, pray tell, kind of thread would you have come up with had something happened and then we found out the gov knew it was coming but kept quiet? Do you just want absolutes from him? What kind of god/leader do people expect the pres to be? Maybe it's not that our politicians have lowered the bar but, maybe, just maybe, Americans have become so jaded,self-centered and content that they want the world on a silver platter and then have no problems acting like spoiled children when they don't get it...like perfection from our leaders. This is life. Some deal with it and others just #&%!$ about it.” 11:13:24 PM 11/27/01 “I get the feeling sometimes that the politicians are just keeping their butts covered. You know, just on the off-chance that one of these threats materializes. Before 9-11, we never would have heard of lots of these.” 12:21:33 AM 11/28/01 “Amen Nigal. 8 years of "Clinton" have certainly lowered the bar. At least Bush points out the risks and doesn't candy coat everything to boost his poll numbers.” 5:33:29 AM 11/28/01 “i'm not tired of him.” 6:19:09 AM 11/28/01 “The bar has indeed been lowered. We had a lyin' draft-dodger for eight years. Now we have a lyin', draft-dodgin', deserter who's prosecuting a war. Our next president should be a striped ape.” 7:07:50 AM 11/28/01 “or a nekkid ape.” 7:11:00 AM 11/28/01 “I'm happy that we have Bush as President.” 7:15:04 AM 11/28/01 “We went from Mr Blow Job to Mr Blow.” 7:16:13 AM 11/28/01 “I agree with Nigal. I don't see where Bush is saying anything I haven't heard other presidents saying. They contradict themselves frequently and it seems to have more to do with updated information than waffling or @ss-covering.” 8:07:33 AM 11/28/01 “I just saw on the news that they've found Osama's weapons of mass destruction plans. It is possible he could manufacture them. He's sure trying. I myself am glad to know what's a possibility. If nothing happens all the better. Some people will never be happy. I'm just glad that Bill or Al isn't in the white house right now. Especially pleased that Al isn't!” 8:12:48 AM 11/28/01 “Same sh!t, different president. ” 8:31:43 AM 11/28/01 “Exactly” 8:34:08 AM 11/28/01 “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!” 8:34:10 AM 11/28/01 “we sure do like to keep spocky well fed, don't we?” 8:39:22 AM 11/28/01 “Whenever he's behaving decently, I'm ok with that. This is a good topic.” 8:43:04 AM 11/28/01 “I agree with nigal+buddha - et. al - The media is no better (sorry, mediaman). Two weeks ago, the press and co. were stiring the " Why haven't we won yet? Is this going to be the next Vietnam? What's taking so long?" pot. Now, we're in Kabul taking inventory of the Tabliban and Al-Queda and taking care of business (only a month and a half after we started bombing!) and now they're all saying "Why isn't the President being up front with the fact that he wants to go into Iraq?" GGEEEZZZZ, let's give our boys some credit, ya news hounds! Lay off and be supportive for a change. I know that they need this kind of stuff in order to make money, but I gotta tell ya, I am so sick and tired of news people "Working for Me" and such. It's really getting old. Everytime ya flip on the TV it's some other B.S. from them. They need to report news, not create it. The only outlet that I have seen that has given a fair shake to all of this is the Fox News Channel, although they did hire Geroldo and sent him into Afganistan (gggeeeezzzzz). CNN is a flippin joke. Weather or not I'm happy that Bush is in office rather than Gore I think is a moot point. I think that who ever was in office, 9/11 would have happened. In times like this, we would be supportive of who ever was in office. I think that Bush does have the right people in place to do the job. I don't know if Gore would've had Powell as Sec. of State, I know that if he didn't, we'd be on this board shouting for him to be there! I am very happy with the way things are moving, I think that we have done everything right so far in regards to the war. Here at home, I'm waiting to see how far our freedoms will be pushed before I decide. The government has to be very careful on how it handles it's self on this front.” 9:23:26 AM 11/28/01 “LOL laqtis, with so many news reporters getting killed in this one, maybe they were hoping this was there chance to get rid of him (Geraldo) once and for all!” 9:28:14 AM 11/28/01 “Skull - Another good point for Fox News! LOL” 9:36:26 AM 11/28/01 “As Americans, we have prided ourselves as being a beacon of freedom, the leader of the free world. It really bothers me to hear some of the stories of the people that have been locked up for weeks with little explanation except that they are "middle eastern". I have faith that the Justice Department and the FBI are trying to do their best in a very difficult situation, but at the same time I hate to see our cherished freedoms trampled on. It's tough finding a balance between protecting against terrorism and upholding civil liberties today. I am happy with most of Bush's appointees, but for some reason Ashcroft creeps me out. It's a slippery slope and we need to be careful.” 9:36:33 AM 11/28/01 “is english the written language used in afghanistan? i saw a report on television this morning and it showed a person rummaging through one of the "labs" they uncovered. they zoomed in on a note book and the page had some chemical equations etc., etc. and they were written in english. is this the media trying to make us "see" what is going on? they did not mention it was a simulation or a prop for the purpose of the story so i am to assume it is real. it appeared they were in one of the "labs" and picked up a notebook left behind when this "lab" was vacated.” 10:06:37 AM 11/28/01 “I wondered about that, too. How internationally standardized is chemistry notation?” 10:09:20 AM 11/28/01 “That might be because Ashcroft IS a creep. The dude is an Eye-uh-tole-uh for a kooky right-wing agenda.” 10:11:17 AM 11/28/01 “I tend to agree with kleetn in that we should be very careful to avoid abusing the power of state to detain "suspects". The balance between personal liberty and adequate police protection should be closely monitored and protected. While I personally believe that the current administration is being prudent in this crisis, I do not believe that "blind trust" is the best policy to follow. Any governmental action that impedes freedom should always be subjected the the highest degree of scrutiny.” 10:24:17 AM 11/28/01 “I too, noticed that writting on the note pad, but it didn't hit with me until you guys brought it up. Bin Laden was educated i the States, but why would they be taking notes in english. Is this sutile propaganda? If I remember right, there was the word "Isopropyl" written in english on the note pad. Maybe this "reporter" was making an aclohol stove? LOL ...” 10:34:32 AM 11/28/01 “It's hard to be bored of Dubya. He's a constant source of amusement, when he's not embarassing us that is.” 10:46:30 AM 11/28/01 “From what I heard this morning, a lot of the information the Taliban had was downloaded from the internet, so it's more than likely that it was in English. And remember that many of the Taliban are not Afghani's...they are from Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Chechnya and Eugene, Oregon.” 10:47:14 AM 11/28/01 “With the war being prosecuted in Afghanistan against the Osama and the Taliban, one would think that there would have been some sort of further terrorist action (in addition to the Anthrax) in the U.S. Wouldn't you have expected at least a car bomb or a suicide bomber by now? Could it be that some of the people being detained are the very ones that were supposed to carry out the attacks? Could it be that the U.S. Government is doing the right thing in detaining these people? Come on Liberals, wake up! This is a war and it's time to give Bush and the U.S. Government some credit for taking the appropriate action to stop further terrorist attacks in the U.S.” 10:47:16 AM 11/28/01 “BaSO4, weren't you on the Jim Lehrer News Hour last night? LOL!” 10:49:31 AM 11/28/01 “I doubt that if there are plans for further terrorist activity it will come later, not sooner. They are smart enough to wait until our guard is down. The last attempt on the WTC was in '93, wasn't it? Conservatives telling us to trust the government. Liberals acting like Libertarians. Oh, the humanity!” 10:53:25 AM 11/28/01 “Yes, you worthless slut liberals! Its time to stop asking questions! This is a government we can trust for a change! You're either with us or against us! Death to all opposition! Looks like we might need a little Auschwitz here to get you bastards in line!” 10:56:59 AM 11/28/01 “I don't have any real gripes about the prosecution of the war, or about the way they've handled the warnings (btw, the bridge blunder was really Gov. Davis'--not Bush's). We are deep in the heart of the terra they call incognita, and anyone who claims to have a map is completely full of sh!t; so I'm inclined to cut the administration a lot of slack on the way they handle the situation. (As I have said before, I do have grave misgivings about the suspension of certain civil liberties.) What I find indefensible is the way they are undermining domestic unity by pressing forward with extreme and divisive initiatives like drilling ANWR, and free money for the ultra-wealthy. Even if there were a case to be made for these on the merits (there isn't), this is absolutely the wrong time to be waging these partisan political battles.” 10:58:44 AM 11/28/01 “It's not war. War has never been declared. My concern at the moment is that the U.S. will spread itself too thin. This ordeal in Afghanistan is far from over. It's going to take billions and billions of dollars to rebuild that nation. Who will the government be? The N. Alliance? I have a feeling before we are done there that N. Alliance troops and U.S. troops will be going head to head. And now we want to get down and dirty with Iraq again?” 10:59:28 AM 11/28/01 “Sick'em, George!” 11:00:01 AM 11/28/01 “Even though it’s a dead horse I should have known this thread would go large. These political threads are like a drunken one night stand; You go into the seedy bar (poli thread) knowing nothing good will come of it, you have too many drinks (read to many posts) and start thinking unclear, you get influenced by the ugly chick (idiot posters like Spock), and the next thing you know you’re goin’ at it full bore. And just like the ugly chick, as soon as you blow yer wad (hit the submit button) you regret it, want nothing to do with the whole thing, and would do anything to take it back! Of course, when it comes to Tom T the seedy bar is a gay bar! LOL! How do I get “sucked in” to these dumbass threads?” 11:00:59 AM 11/28/01 “When I wrote to my Congressmen (yet again) about ANWR I got identical letters from all 3 of them. Is there some kind of mind control at work here? That was not the case on the same topic before 9/11.” 11:02:18 AM 11/28/01 “Cheeseballs, anyone?” 11:06:49 AM 11/28/01 “LOL, Splash, I'll have some with my wine!” 11:07:58 AM 11/28/01 “Should I have spelled that 'whine' instead?” 11:08:47 AM 11/28/01 “Yeah, a bicker of whine.” 11:10:09 AM 11/28/01 “Nigal- Stay the hell out of my gay bar......or my leather friends might just "dot yer eye". Damn boy, you would make one butt-ugly drag queen!” 11:12:56 AM 11/28/01 “LMBO! Exactly! Does that come in an economy size?” 11:13:42 AM 11/28/01 “"It's not war. War has never been declared." Come on Rosey, Korea wasn't a war? Vietnam wasn't a war? Just because Congress hasn't declared War doesn't mean it's not a war. Ask the people fighting and dieing if it is a war.” 11:14:22 AM 11/28/01 “Ummm...the bicker of whine, I mean.” 11:15:20 AM 11/28/01 “I know a little about the Prosecution of this War, and the intelligence that goes into the planning of it, both the Regional (Read: Afganistan/Mid-East), and the National, and having been in the intelligence field for a great many years, I also know there ARE no absolutes....not ever. What the US is trying to do is like fighting cancer at the cellular level, and then insofar as OBL is concerned, trying to find, fix and destroy a single cancer cell in a blood stream that is rife with cancerous cells....Now add to the mix the requirement to protect the rest of the body from the spread of the infection....there are many treatments, some are radical, some not, most have a benificial result, but may require a treatment regimen that encompasses combined treatments, and all to send the Cancer into remission, not CURE it. Chemo makes one ill,and we are all a little ill from the treatments; best to remember that the alternative to fighting is to die....Terrorism like cancer will grow and spread till it kills you. No one man is responsible for fighting this war, the entire Nation is involved, GWB is a focal point.....a point I can live with until a new one is elected.” 11:15:49 AM 11/28/01 “From where I sit Skullcap has the biggest claim to whine cause he actually acted. I have more respect for an active lib than an inactive conservative. Now an active conservative is a truely great American. 8) What's the best size hook to use for troll bait?” 11:16:54 AM 11/28/01 “LOL, Scully, I thought you wanted an economy sized Nigal in drag! Nigal, "she" wrote letters. But I don't call that whining.” 11:21:05 AM 11/28/01 “LOL nigal, scullcap = she, thank you! SuperTroll, I think so far this campagn has been waged appropriately and effectively. The only gripe that I have is that they're called Human Rights, not Citizens Rights. I would like to see charges brought and due process followed. And I am ok with military tribunals. After all, this is a national security issue. That is paramount.” 11:24:01 AM 11/28/01
