Adventure Racing!! “So anybody done any adventure racing? I know it sounds a bit nutty but than again aren't hikers a bit nutty to begin with;)??” 12:11:57 PM 11/28/01 “I know a guy in SC who does it.. this TEC REP for Faro. Really cool it sounds like.. but hey.. I don't have those kind of bucks to go trash a car for the adrenalin. He's racing a lowered pickup truck.. I am assuming we are talking about the same thing.. 'barely' legal.. on public roads.. or some are done on race tracks.. but lots of danger..” 12:21:14 PM 11/28/01 “Dawg, adventure racing is on foot, in the water and on bikes, etc. It's like a triathalon of outdoor activities including orienteering, climbing, sometimes even diving. Birch signed up for a race before he started school a while back and we get loads of emails from a guy who does training sessions for racers, finds people partners, etc. After he started school he didn't have any time to train so he never got to do his race.” 2:27:08 PM 11/28/01 “Two friends of mine here in Montana just completed one a few weeks ago down in the Sierras near Tahoe, I think. They ran, mtn. bikes, kayaked skied and climbed. The guy who organizedthe team was trying to get me to go, but I was up in Seattle that weekend. I saw them training every afternoon while I was out running. They were working on variuos parts all fall. Both of them are decent triathletes so they mainly had to work on climbing skills. I think it took them close to 48 hrs. to complete.” 2:43:34 PM 11/28/01 “I'd love to do one but they are so expensice and few in number around here. I think I'll stick to cycle racing for now.” 5:36:13 PM 11/28/01 “The only racing I do is on my NASCAR 99 game. I keep my steering wheel mounted to my computer deck all the time. I raced for a while last night. My car is the #32 Ford. Primary sponser is thebackpacker.com (Trail Talk). That's on the hood. Campmor, Peak 1, & REI are also on my car. If I can figure out a way to post my car on TT I will. Also, I just started a new season. 4 races down and I'm in the points lead by 19 points.” 5:54:00 PM 11/28/01 “Do an online search under "adventure racing". I found out about LOTS of local stuff and joined an AdRace org. S.M.A.R.T. Southern mi adv race teams. They sponsor and offer clinics to local and out of state long races. Check with local outfitters. Many smaller races cost around $60 per person for teams of 2 or 3. The shorter races are 1 day deals but would still be crazy hard!” 8:36:02 PM 11/28/01 “**Update** I fell to 2nd in the points. My brothers car took the lead. I recon I'll have to put him in the wall next race. MOOHAHAHAHA!!!!!” 8:39:12 PM 11/28/01 “while we are talking games, did you know that on the PS2 there are a set of football games (college and pro) that interface. You can create a player in the college game and play him his four years then export him to the pro game's draft. So you can then draft your player into the pros and go from there. That's technology.” 9:03:34 PM 11/28/01 “I got off the wrong subway station in New York city a lot of years back (duh)...figured I'll just walk back uptown. I ran and trotted thru the Bronx and a bit of Harlem at around 10pm. I think this constitutes as "Adventure Racing". No joke. I didn't even know that I went thru those areas until someone told me next morning.” 9:42:13 PM 11/28/01
