Tilt, may have been the slow death from neglect of spongy waterlogged fibreglass from osmosis.

But the errant cigarette boat at 70 knots does have a kind of visual appeal.

Or the gust of wind lifting it off the car roof on the highway ?? too late for the tailgating 18 wheeler to avoid, or maybe the red-necked 18 wheeler driver associating all small boat sailors with eco friendly types cackling with glee as he veers onto the shoulder to get all his wheels over it.

I did see a Snark bouncing down Hwy 56 once.

About the eco-friendly thing ---

When the wind didn't exactly cooperate, the bass buddies would always laugh and wave as they sped by... but when the wind DID blow and the waves came up, the motorfloaters would be bouncing along (knocking the fillings out of their teeth) and the Hobie would just heel over a little and slice through the waves.... And it would begin to HUM at about 25 knots, <G>

Tilt,
too chicken for a multi, they are far too stable upside down.

I just do mono's
I currently have a Phantom, a Sunfish on steroids, lighter hull and 15% bigger sail.
Took Wed afternoon off because it was 90F and 10 knots.
Hums when planing on a reach.

Maple,

I need to get another Hobie. That was a fun boat.... even if we did bounce through the rigging and spill a little blood now and then, LOL

My worst was on an 18ft sharpie (3 man).
We pitchpoled while I was on trapeze, and I landed on a man-o-war. Left arm was stung pretty bad.

I swung around into the jib a few times but I never landed on a man-o-war, LOL

Here's a small fleet o' Sunfish at my old stomping grounds... the Lower Neuse River, southeast of Pamlico Sound, NC. They had plenty of your regular jellyfish. There was always a full jug of vinegar handy.

"Nothing unusual occurred till 4 o'clock on the morning of April 1st. At that hour I was in bed and asleep but was awakened by a tremendous crash, and heavy report. The saloon was filled with a sickening stench, the timbers were breaking as there was a great tumult."

Master of the 600-ton side wheel steamer Maple Leaf

People, do the windsurf thing. Eight foot board you can put in the back of a van or station wagon. Go 35 miles and hour and it doesn't hurt your knee and back like those dingies.
